Cold Weather Plan Before School Recess

When the morning temperatures are just too chilly (generally below 10-15 degrees) or lots of wet precipitation is falling, we will call ‘before school recess’ inside (from 7:45 to 8:05am) - this will be signaled by Yellow Flags - located on the fence along Stuart Street and at the Front of School along the Cafeteria exterior wall.

** Please note our school doors DO NOT open before 7:40am for students to get Breakfast. We do not have supervision available before 7:40am. **

Upcoming State and District Required Assessments:

n our spring semester we will be administering annual state and district required assessments. Please make note of the dates for the assessments your child will be taking and, whenever possible, please avoid absences during the testing periods. Please note that, on testing days, if students arrive late after testing has begun, they will not be able to join their class until testing has completed for the day. Having students on time and present on testing days helps us gather valuable data while minimizing interruptions to daily instruction. Please help us meet that goal!

Typically, assessments begin in the morning and conclude each day prior to lunch.

News from PE

Hello Riffenburgh families,

I hope this finds everyone well. It is once again that time of year for the annual Healthy Kids Club 5210+ challenge! Students should have brought the individual tracking logs home today. In addition to student logs the oldest member of each family (or only child) brought home a family log for the whole family to participate.

For those who are unfamiliar the challenge runs through the month of February and promotes practicing some different healthy lifestyle habits. The goal is to have at least 80 total checks on their logs by the end of February. Those who complete the minimum of 80 checks will receive a shirt in the spring and schools with the highest percentage of student’s participating will receive money to be spent on PE equipment and school wellness initiatives.

If you need to print off another log or would like to see an intro video please visit the challenge website:

Submission will be online again using the link provided on the challenge log that was sent home. I will send out a reminder as well as a link to the submission form at the end of February, but in the meantime please reach out to me if you have any questions.
