Byron High School Taster Lessons

Yr 6 attended Byron High School last week. Everyone had a great time with hands on lessons guided by teachers from the high school and Year 10 mentor students. We tried our hand at conducting an experiment with Bunsen burners in the science lab and making snow balls in the Food Technology rooms. Yr 6 can’t wait for our next visit.

Kindergarten

Kindergarten students are continuing to learn their initial sounds. We have tufted on pineapples, circled paper for Hairy Maclary and created our own purple-people eaters.

staffing

Some parents have expressed concerns about the number of casual staff during Term 1. We aim to have as little disruption as possible to the teaching and learning programs, however, staff at times are dealing with illness, family commitments and attendance at necessary professional learning. In respecting the privacy of the staff, details of absences are not disclosed. Casual teachers have been following class programs to ensure the continuity of learning is maintained. We hope that Term 2 is more settled with staff and families well and Miss Thuys continuing in the vacant position.
