15 Days of Christmas!

As we head into the weeks leading up to Winter Break, we want to have some Holiday Fun! See the themes for every day below if your child wants to participate!

Positive Referrals This Week

The following students were recognized with a "positive referral" to the office this week for exhibiting one of our MSE Character Traits or other positive behaviors! Thanks for being great! With only two days this past week these students still stood out!!!

Monthly Positive Behavior Raffle

We held our monthly "Positive Behavior Raffle" at Grade Level Meetings this past Wednesday. The next raffle will be held Wednesday December 17 during grade level meetings! Students who were referred to the office for positive behavior were entered into a random wheel and selected to come up and pick prizes. Thank you to all the students for setting a positive example for others and to the PCC for supporting the prizes along with parents who donated! If you as a parent would like to donate to the raffle you can do so with the amazon list below or support the PCC! https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/JH35Q7JGAINL?ref_=wl_share

Attendance Reminder!

Reminder that as we wrap up our time before Winter Break, you and your student make every effort to be present all day every day for the next 10 school days! While we do understand students get sick, students need to be present to get the maximum benefits out of school! If a child is sick, a doctor or urgent care note should accompany that absence or doctors note for appointments. Any other absence will count as verified or unverified and will count towards possible filing of truancy charges once your student generates over 10 absences this year. Please reach out to your child's counselor, or the main office, if you need any help with regular attendance!

As we prepare for the upcoming Winter Break, we want to share how grateful we are for each of you. Together we have worked to establish routines of showing up to school and create a school community for everyone and many students have had improved attendance this year! We know the winter season is busy, and we appreciate your efforts to avoid taking extra days off around the Winter Break. Our teachers will be teaching and our students will be learning right up until vacation starts on Friday December 19 and the first day back on January 5. Every school day matters. When students are healthy and able to attend, it gives them the chance to keep learning, connect with friends, and grow both socially and academically. Please remember to use the district calendar posted at www.lc-ps.org to plan your vacations and trips for the remainder of the school year. Students have many breaks and opportunities to take trips that don't impact their learning. Your support makes such a difference in helping children feel connected and prepared.  If your family or your child needs support, please reach out to their counselor of the main office for help.

Character Ed Focus for December

For December WE will be focusing on the idea of accountability and responsibility and the big role that those two traits play in the life of a middle schooler! This is a make or break time of the year for students as they can take ownership of their learning or slip!

LCPS Bond Update

Please see the graphic below for the LCPS Bond that was voted on last year and the timeline and schedule for projects that will impact Middle School East. MSE is in the middle of the planning and bidding phase for new flooring throughout the building with work beginning at the end of this school year. Other updates, including technology, will be rolled out as well.

Next PCC Meeting will be in january 2026!

MSE/LCPS Communication

We utilize the district's School Messenger platform to send out updates to parents, students, and staff. If you are not receiving School Messenger emails, please contact the main office and we can get you set up. There are times we also send out reminder text messages about upcoming events, or important information, if you have opted out in the past, please use the steps below to opt in for text messages as this is the easiest way to get a quick communication from MSE. This would also enroll you into district text messages for things like Snow Days or Emergency Communications from LCPS
