Somehow, it’s half term. I hope that you have some brilliant things planned. As always, I report that we’ve been extremely busy in school!

We have done a lot of work around Black History Month which included last week’s initiative for ‘Show Racism The Red Card.’ Thank you so much to Miss Betts & Mrs. Lavender for leading our planning & activities. We have studied an array of role models, and the children have been brilliant whilst learning some very important lessons.

We have hosted Parents’ Evening across the week and over the telephone. Thank you to everyone who has met and discussed the progress of the children. These consultations provide the perfect opportunity to work together and enjoy the positives of the school year so far.

Our Nursery Stay & Play Sessions in the Hall were wonderful. Thank you to everybody who made these happen – it looked like some of the adults had as good a time as the children! Some really lovely activities were on offer!

Book Fair Week has proved popular again. Thank you to Mrs. Wilkie, Mr. Davis & Mrs. Shaw for facilitating the opportunity. Some beautiful books were on offer.

This week’s School DISCO was attended with great numbers and no little enthusiasm. A brilliant £600 was raised and this will go straight in to the ‘trips and visits fund’ to allow us to reduce the cost of these.

Spooky Times!

Thank you to Mr. Davis for arranging Mental Health Workshops for Years 5 & 6. These were delivered by Compass Be, our local partner. Some excellent messages were shared. They are a UK-based organisation that provides mental health and wellbeing support for children, young people, and families. It’s a charity and service provider that works in partnership with the NHS, schools, and local authorities to promote emotional wellbeing and early intervention.

It was lovely to meet some prospective parents at our Nursery & Reception Open Evening. Thank you to our lovely staff team who arranged this.

We hosted a Halloween Event for our SEND families too this week. Again, some amazing activities that were superbly well received; thank you to everybody who enabled this special evening.

Good luck to our Girls football team as they go to Cherry Dale for a league fixture.

Another thank you to our lovely families who arranged today’s Family Coffee Morning; I hope that these can become a regular feature.

We have also been brushing up our performance poetry across school this week – some fantastic work!

Birkwood Brass are thriving. Many thanks to Mr. Roberts for his enthusiasm in driving our musicians. Anyone looking to join, please let us know!

We have also updated next half term’s clubs. Let us know if there are any issues around Arbor & we shall try to rectify them.

We have details of Barnsley Family Hub's activities for the October half term holidays for your children and families. Some brilliant activities on offer!
