  • Grade 5 Camp to Bacchus Marsh October 9 to 11

Year 6 Camp We had some very tired Year 6 students, as well as staff and parents who attended camp, who returned to us on Wednesday afternoon. By all accounts it was a fantastic camp that was enjoyed by all. We thank everyone involved in organising and attending this camp. As I mentioned last week, the Year 4s head off to Anglesea in Week 5!

Foundation 2025 Information Evening At the time of writing, our Foundation Information Evening has been organised and we are ready to go. The staff attending are looking forward to sharing information about our wonderful school.

We are taking enrolment forms now. It would be very helpful if our current families who have a child starting in Foundation in 2025 could complete these forms and send to the Office as soon as possible, preferably no later than the end of Term 2. We have a lot of interest from families outside our school zone who would like to enrol.

Parking Please be aware that the Banyule Council parking officers have been issuing parking infringement notes this week around the school – I believe these are around $100. Please ensure you follow all parking regulations, even if only for the safety of ALL Viewbank Primary School students.

The school is still in negotiations with the Victorian School Building Authority regarding the reinstatement of the staff car park, this has been a slow process, but not forgotten.

Parents and Friends Unfortunately, we have not had any parents express an interest (or discuss with myself / the office) in taking on the role (it can be a shared role) of President. Therefore, no P&F meetings have been scheduled for Term 2. At this stage, many of the events that were pencilled in for Term 3 and 4 are unlikely to proceed. Please contact me via the office if you would like to discuss the role.

Next Week We have another busy week next week, Years 4s have an Incursion on Tuesday and Thursday, the Years 3-6 Cross Country is on Wednesday at Price Park, and the Mother’s Day Stall is on Thursday!

Have a great weekend and enjoy some of this amazing autumn weather!

Patrick

TheirCare (Outside of School Hours Care) Please be aware that if your child is not registered with TheirCare they will be unable to access the program in an emergency. Therefore, it is highly recommend that you register your child/ren with TheirCare in case you may need it one day as child/ren cannot be supervised by staff beyond 3.45pm.

SCHOOL TOURS We will be running school tours on a Tue, Wed, Thu at 9.30am for prospective families. Please call the office to make a booking.

CAMPS, SPORTS AND EXCURSIONS FUND (CSEF) The Government assisted Fund provides payments for eligible students to attend camps, sports, incursions and excursions ($150 per child). Applications for the Governments ‘CSEF Fund’ can be accessed by filling in the application form and returning it to the office with a copy of your current Health Care Card. Families holding a valid means-tested concession card or temporary foster parents are eligible to apply) i.e. a Centrelink Health Care Card or Pension Concession Card or Veteran Affairs Gold Card.

If you applied for the CSEF at your child's school in 2023, you do not need to complete an application form in 2024 unless there has been a change in your family circumstances.

You only need to complete an application form if any of the following changes have occurred:

  • new student enrolments; your child has started or changed schools in 2024 or you did not apply in 2023.
  • changed family circumstances; such as a change of custody, change of name, concession card number, or new siblings commencing at the school in 2024.
  • Funds are paid to the school and will be automatically allocated to the Extra-Curricular Items and Activities unless otherwise stated by the parent at the start of the year.

Kind regards,

Lucy Addati

What a fantastic day we had at the VPS Walkathon 2024! I'm thrilled to report that the children absolutely loved every moment of it.

A huge thank you goes out to all the parents who volunteered their time and energy to make this event such a success. Your support before, during, and after the walkathon truly made a difference, and we couldn't have done it without you.

To the parents who organised every detail of the day, your dedication and hard work are deeply appreciated. Your efforts ensured that everything ran smoothly, allowing our students to enjoy a memorable experience.

I want to extend a special thank you to everyone who has already contributed to our fundraising efforts. Your generosity is making a significant impact on our school upgrade project, and we are incredibly grateful for your support.

For those who haven't yet had the chance to donate, please consider doing so at your earliest convenience. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps us provide better resources and opportunities for our students. You can submit your sponsorship money via Compass or return it to the school by Friday, May 3.

Once again, thank you to everyone involved in making the VPS Walkathon 2024 such a wonderful day. Your commitment to our school community is truly commendable, and we look forward to continuing to work together to support our children's education.
