A Message from the Headteacher

Please see the link above - Easy Fundraising can work for Birkwood!

Thankfully, my computer hasn’t melted today! I love the sunshine and what a day it has been! Sports Day in Years 2 & 3 has been brilliant. It’s always a huge pleasure to welcome families into school and for the younger children the Sports Pitch/ Field works well. Thank you for your support and thank you to everybody for their organisation of the event. A great way to end the half term!

Sports at Birkwood

I can’t really believe we’re at the point of the final half term but if ‘time flies when you’re having fun,’ I must still be enjoying my life at Birkwood!

Remaining with the Sports Day theme – it was the plan to start the week at Dorothy Hyman Stadium! Again, please accept my apologies for our Sports Dahy Cancellation. At least the early attempt has given us chance to arrange a new date. Thank you for your understanding.

Years 4, 5 & 6 Sports Day

Dorothy Hyman Stadium

Tuesday 7th July at 1pm

The week included the Year 6 Residential to London. A magnificent itinerary was organised with the Y6 staff team and Mr. Davis. The photos looked remarkable and I had superb reviews from staff and children alike. Thank you to all of the adults for their care and support and a huge thank you to families who shared some lovely feedback with us – it means a lot! I believe that the Y6 children have just made memories for life.

Last Week’s Amazing Athletes from Years ¾ came second last week at Dorothy Hyman, - some unbelievable performances on show from our Birkwood athletes. As ever, our 100% effort value was on show. We are again so proud of their achievements.

100% from Years 3 & 4

Our Bake Sale this week was absolutely brilliant! Our ex pupils and one friend from Outwood Shafton raised £100 for play equipment at Birkwood! Everyone’s a winner here – thank you for your support and care shown towards them – I hope it was tasty!

£100 - Magic!

RSE Meetings are now completed. Thank you to everyone who has managed to attend. I will be emailing all lesson resources to families straight after the break. Thank you to the staff led by Mrs. Lavender for their hard work.

Half Term is 2 weeks. I look forward to seeing its impact. We will be doing the same next year due to requirements of submitting INSET dates in advance. I hope many of you can get away. We are always under pressure to raise attendance; this is a plan to help with that and to try to ensure that more reasonably priced holidays are available to you.

The FA Cup

The children have again felt the excitement of our Attendance Rewards this week. Well done to the class winners – a range of prizes were definitely enjoyed. Keep attending and good luck! We will be crowning the first winners of the FA Cup straight after the break!

Attendance Picnics!

Thank you for your support with attendance today – a fabulous, positive difference of +7% more children were in school compared to this same day last year. A huge thanks.

Please have a wonderful half term break. Remember the sun cream and you know the rest; enjoy some special family time.

The end of year RockSteady Concert is booked! Families of the rock stars – do not miss out!
