Museum Description
I chose the theme Family History because it reminds me of my great grandpa and grandma and the hard life they lived to help our family. My great grandpa fought in World War II and lived on a farm with my great grandma and their kids with lots of animals. There was 12 kids. He raised my grandpa and his siblings while teaching them to work hard and take care of each other. That work ethic was passed down through my family and inspires me too. I want to show artwork in my museum that represents hard work, and sacrifice. This theme is personal because it helps me share my family's history and show how their actions have been passed down through generations and still impact my family today.
Impact Statement
I want my museum to help people think about where they come from and the people in their family who helped them get to where they are now. I want visitors to feel proud of their roots and take time to remember the hard work their family might have done in the past for them now. I also want them to see that even small family stories matter. After looking at my museum I want people to leave feeling more connected to their own families whether it was now or in the past and inspired by the strength that can be passed down through generations.
Room 1: Courage
Some Ideas I used to create this room were remembering my families resilience and work ethic to keep on going no matter what.
Preparing for Christmas
Title: Preparing for Christmas (Plucking Turkeys) Artist: Francis William Edmonds (American, Hudson, New York 1806–1863 Bronxville, New York) Date: 1851
The artist uses everyday scenes to convey the warmth and togetherness of the holiday season. The composition shows a family gathered around a table preparing turkeys suggesting a sense of tradition and community. The focal point is the man on the right whose expression of concentration shows the importance of their task. I chose this artwork because it reminds me of the times my family gathers in the kitchen to prepare holiday meals together. The sense of togetherness shown by the family members working side by side makes me think of how my siblings and I help our parents cook during Thanksgiving.
The grape harvest
Artist: Clare Veronica Hope Leighton Title: The Grape Harvest Date: 1928
The artist uses line to show the movement and hard work of the people picking grapes. The curved lines of the vines lead the eye through the artwork, showing how busy everyone is. The strong dark lines around the workers bodies make them stand out showing their strength and effort. The repeated shapes of the grape bins create a sense of rhythm showing how many grapes they are picking. I chose this artwork because it reminds me of the stories my grandpa told me about picking fruits with his brothers and sisters. The people working together made me think of how he said they all helped out in the fields.
Flintlock Rifle George Schreyer ca. 1795
The Flintlock Long Rifle by George Schreyer has a long smooth shape that shows it was made for accuracy and power. The straight line of the barrel makes it look strong and serious. The carved designs on the wooden stock add texture showing the care and skill that went into making it. The dark wood and shiny metal create contrast making the rifle stand out. I chose this artwork because it reminds me of my great grandpa who fought in World War II and raised 12 kids on a farm. It looks like the old style rifles.
Walking Lion Barthelemy Prieur early 17th century
Walking Lion was created during the late 16th century a time when artists often made sculptures of animals to show power and strength. The lion was a symbol of royalty and bravery, representing kings and leaders. The artist, Barthélemy Prieur was known for his detailed bronze sculptures showing his skill in capturing realistic poses and textures. I chose this artwork because it reminds me of my great-grandpa, who was a strong and hardworking man.
Peacemaking
I chose the topic Peace because it correlates with my future goals and my passion for public service which involves crime solving and is the root of anger and war towards others.

Nkyinkyim Installation was created to honor the memory of enslaved Africans and those who suffered under racial violence. The artist placed the sculptures at the National Memorial for Peace and Justice, a site dedicated to remembering victims of lynching in America. I chose this artwork because it connects to my passion for justice and helping others. It shows how people have suffered from violence and how we still need to fight for peace.
Hank Willis Thomas, Raise Up, 2016, National Memorial for Peace and Justice, 2018, Montgomery, Alabama (photo: Dr. Renée Ater) https://smarthistory.org/national-memorial-for-peace-and-justice/
In Raise Up the artist uses shape to focus on the raised arms, showing the powerful gesture of surrender. The line of the figures is simple but strong, drawing attention to their faces and hands. The texture of the bronze surface adds realism, making the figures look almost lifelike. I chose this artwork because it connects to my passion for public service and crime solving. The raised arms remind me of the impact of conflict and the need for peace. It also makes me think about how people can be unfairly treated and how I want to help bring justice and protect others in the future.
Artist: Marc Chagall Born Vitebsk (formerly Russian Empire, now Belarus), 1887; died Saint-Paul, France, 1985 White crucifixion. https://www.artic.edu/artworks/59426/white-crucifixion
White Crucifixion was painted in 1938, during a time of rising violence against Jewish people in Europe. Chagall, a Jewish artist, used the image of Jesus on the cross to symbolize the suffering of Jewish people under Nazi persecution. I chose this artwork because it shows how people suffer when they are treated unfairly which connects to my interest in public service. The scenes of people running away remind me of how important it is to protect others and stand up for what’s right. It makes me think about how my family values helping others and being strong during hard times.
Heroes.
I chose heroes because it correlates with peacemaking showing that it takes one person to help fight against evil and destruction.
