You may recall that a few weeks ago that Charlie, with the help of his big sis, stood up in assembly and told the school about his friend and team mate who had unfortunately had a stroke. Charlie explained that he would be doing a sponsored walk up Moel Famau to help raise funds to aid his friend with his recovery.
Our Head Boys and Head Girls decided that we should work as a school family; we needed to all support Charlie and so we had a own clothes day in return for donations.
Diolch for your support and kindness.
A message from Charlie's family:
On Saturday 25th of January Charlie along with his team mates walked up Moel Famau where they played a short game of football before heading back down.
We are so proud of Charlie for raising a MASSIVE £450 to help with his friend’s recovery. A great big thank you to Ysgol Sychdyn for a none school uniform day and to all the children/parents who donated.
Thank you.
YOUNG VOICES
Less than a week to go before our Young Voices choir join other school choirs as part of the largest choir in the world and perform live at the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester.
Ysgol Sychdyn will help warm up the Co-op Live Arena audiences, just before the Arena then hosts Derek Chisora, Cyndi Lauper and Craig David in the days that follow; Ysgol Sychdyn's Young Voices crew will be a hard act to follow...
Wednesday 5th February will be the last Young Voices after-school club.
All those attending have shown tremendous dedication in attending the after-school club since September and they all deserve to have, what will be, an incredible experience when they finally get to perform at the Co-op Live Arena on the 6th February.
We understand that next Thursday will be a long day and a late night, so registers will remain open until 10:45 on Friday 7th February if any choir members need a bit more time in bed (if they can actually get to sleep after the excitement!).
Year 5 - Transition
Year 5's next transition session at the Alun school is Tuesday 4th February. Children will be transported to and from the Alun by coach.
All children are asked to bring a pencil case, packed lunch and to wear comfy trainers along with their full school uniform.
Diolch.
PTA
Diolch to all those who helped with the Santes Dwynwen's Day discos. Nearly £300 was raised towards equipment and resources for the children of Ysgol Sychdyn.
Summer Fair
We will soon be starting to plan our PTA Summer Fair. Our summer fair was a massive success last year and we raised over £1000 for the school.
Any help with this year's would be greatly appreciated, so please let us know asap if you are able to help in any way. Diolch.
Children's Mental Health Week
All classes will be participating in age appropriate activities in class.
Kids Club is hoping to open over February half-term.
If anyone is interested in their child(ren) attending, could they please register their interest by Friday 24th January. Diolch.
WORLD BOOK DAY 2025
