This Town is Broken
Broken Hill, Wilyakali Country – Aimee Volkofsky, singer-songwriter from far west New South Wales, is set to release 'This Town is Broken'(pre-save here), the first single from an upcoming EP A Bird Can’t Help But Fly Home in April 2025 .
The song tells of a mining town, full of lost souls, looking for redemption, rest, or room to live life how they choose. But living in this part of the world with its isolation, its extreme weather, and its extreme views; the contradictions and desperation of the world can seem inescapable. “This Town is Broken” is about the resilience of those living in Far West NSW, finding camaraderie in the struggle, and trying to stay kind in an increasingly divided world.
This sorrowful country waltz paints a vivid picture of the struggles and resilience found in Broken Hill, a town filled with lost souls searching for belonging in a harsh yet beautiful landscape.

Born from the ancient landscapes she lives in, Aimee’s music weaves together folk, country, and blues.
