WIND Eternal movement

The Origin. At the end of the 1980s, after a crossing from Lanzarote, I set foot on Fuerteventura for the first time. The wind overwhelmed me: the warmth of Africa, the freshness of the ocean, ever-present. Every breath tasted of salt and volcanic earth. The island entered me without asking permission. Unconditionally. And since then, it has never left me, bridging even the greatest distances. In 2020, I met Rebecca Erroi — a professional dancer/performer, a nomadic spirit — and I spoke to her about the wind, the ocean, and that island, born from the power of volcanoes. In 2021, right there, we imagined a project. The following year, we set off with a notebook full of notes and two suitcases filled with black and white fabrics. A dialogue between body, wind, ocean, and lava. It all began there, in a place that does not simply welcome: it captivates. Unconditionally.

The Wind The wind is movement. It rises without warning, vaults skyward, then plunges, swift and tireless, hundreds of times a day, without reason, without cause. It softens, only to spring again into leaps of air, inflating its cheeks, blowing harder, demanding space. When it chooses to carry away what stands in its path, nothing can resist. It feeds the ocean, lifts the waves, and hurls them, frothing, against the cliffs, each strike a muted crash, a roar that rends the silence. It has polished those rocks for millennia, never pausing, never yielding. A little further on, it embraces the desert, reshaping dunes in an instant, crossing plains of ancient lava, brushing the silent summits of volcanoes as if greeting old friends asleep. Then it flees, secretive, elusive, as one with something to hide. Sometimes, deep at night, it softens, a gentle, cool whisper, but at dawn it returns, brimming with power and impatience, disturbing all in its path in a ceaseless dance of primeval rhythms. It teases, devours, slips in, penetrates the deepest cracks of sheer cliffs. It soars over forbidden lands, drifts, strikes, repels, howls, hisses, caresses, brushes, whistles, changes, rages. And then, just as suddenly, it vanishes. Yet nothing, after its passing, remains the same. The wind is bound to its own destiny: it cannot stop, for it is a living soul. Since the world began, it has accompanied the breath of all things, giving them motion, giving them life. And it will continue to do so—forever.
