Simply put, discipleship is all about helping others follow Jesus more closely. We, as Christians are called to disciple others just as we have been discipled! I know that can be scary, but we have to remember to trust in God. Often times what we are called to do isn’t necessarily comfortable. As a youth pastor, I have a bias, but part of my role is to remind people that discipling younger believers is not optional—it’s a biblical command and essential for the health of the Church.
Let’s take a look at Matthew 28:19-20. “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Scripture is clear, it doesn’t say “go, if you’re comfortable”. Many of us are familiar with the great commission but it is important to recognize the impact of that final line at the end that says “I am with you always”. God didn’t call you to anything that He didn’t intend to leave you to deal with on your own, He is with you in that!
I have been on staff in youth ministry for over 10 years now, and the longer I am working with students, the more I see value in the older generation investing in the next generation. Investing isn’t always about money. In fact, I believe the real value is the use of your TIME. Some of the students I have worked alongside with don’t have people in their life to pour into them and that is our opportunity to love them like Christ and support them in their walk!
I encourage you to take a moment today and read from Psalm 78:4-7 and see what God puts onto your heart. The main takeaway that I see in these verses is that we, all of us, must tell the next generation about God’s works so they will put their trust in Him. Share your story. Share what God has done in your life and what He has pulled you from. Students crave people who are willing to be real and vulnerable with them. If you have ever worked with students, you will know that they smell “fake” from a mile away. Be authentic, be willing, and love like Christ.
I will end on a challenge (that is just how I am): Find someone to encourage TODAY. We are all called to love people, we are all called to disciple others, and we are all called to share the gospel. God can use you regardless of your age, wealth, qualifications, or capabilities. He just wants a willing heart.
As we approach the final stretch of the school year, it’s easy to feel weary. As a mom to three in middle school and one in college, I understand the exhaustion this season can bring. End-of-year testing, projects, and endless activities can drain our energy and focus.
But as believers, we know God calls us to keep going...not in our own strength, but in His.
Philippians 3:14 says, "I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus."
God isn’t just with us at the start. He’s right there at the finish line, too. These last few weeks matter just as much as the first!
When you’re feeling worn out or overwhelmed, remember: you don't have to push through alone. God is your source of renewal. He equips you with the endurance you need when your own strength feels small.
Stay rooted in prayer.
Take time each day to ask God for focus, motivation, and peace.
Encourage one another.
A simple word of encouragement can be the boost someone else needs to keep going.
The end of the school year isn’t just about surviving, it’s about finishing well, growing stronger, and trusting God every step of the way.
You’re almost there. Keep pressing on. God is cheering you on — and so am I!

“God’s plan is worth the wait—trust it.”
Gracious God,
Today, we thank You for the gift of mothers — for their love, their strength, and their quiet sacrifices.
We honor the women who raised us, nurtured us, and pointed us to You.
We lift up:
- Biological mothers who have given the gift of life.
- Adoptive and foster mothers who have opened their hearts and homes.
- Spiritual mothers who have poured wisdom and faith into others.
- Mothers who grieve for a child lost, for broken relationships, for dreams unfulfilled.
- Women who long to be mothers, and feel the ache of waiting.
Lord, surround each one with Your comfort, joy, and peace. Bless those who mother with courage in difficult circumstances. Strengthen single moms and grandmothers raising children. Bring healing where there is hurt.
May all women in our church know that their love, presence, and prayers make an eternal difference.
May we honor them not just today, but in the way we live and love all year long.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
