Aspiring singer, songwriter, and musician, Elliott Devaughn was born and currently resides in North Mississippi. Although she grew up surrounded by various types of music, she found herself drawn to indie rock and electronica.
Following a chance meeting with Mississippi music legend, Jimbo Mathus, she began taking progressive guitar lessons from him. This led to more performing opportunities and a recording session at Zebra Ranch. She continues to work with Jimbo on her new songs and considers his mentorship a big factor in how she has grown as an artist.
In addition to guitar training, Elliott continues to take piano and vocal lessons while experimenting with other instruments such as synthesizers and drum machines. Most recently she has taken up bass guitar to improve her rhythm skills and to become a more well-rounded multi-instrumentalist.
Elliott's sound is heavily influenced by rock bands such as Sonic Youth, The Velvet Underground and The Strokes. Elements of Stevie Nicks, Joni Mitchell and Fiona Apple can be heard in Elliott's clear airy voice. She strives to discover more diverse sounds to add to her ever-growing and unique tone.
At the beginning of 2025, Elliott immersed herself even more into music, deciding to make it her career. She is actively booking shows, performing and planning to record more songs later in the year.
