The Problem

Poor movie theater etiquette is ruining the moviegoing experience for the average person.

When going to the movies to see the latest new release, it has become more and more frequent to experience distractions or disruptions during the movie. Whether it's someone's phone lighting up in the corner of your eye, or people talking during the movie, there always seems to be something. We try to ignore it, but sometimes it may become too difficult to. It seems as if everyone has forgotten how to behave in a public space. So how could we remedy this?

Decibull is a mobile application that gamifies teaching young children how to behave in the movie theater.

Research

A survey was sent out to both those who frequent movie theaters and those who do not. These statistics are based on the ~50 responses gathered.

Marketing Strategy

As for most apps, this one will be advertised on digital platforms and out of home advertisements such as billboards or subway posters. The digital marketing will include social media posts as well as simple motion graphics so that it can be viewed in a vertical format.

The app will generate social media buzz by being a part of current online trends regarding movies or television.

Branding

Logo

The logo is a cartoon bull to relate to the name of the app, decibull. That itself is a play on decibel, the unit of measurement for sound, since that's what we're trying to limit. The bull character and his design is made to appeal to children.

Color Palette

The red color chosen is to represent both the bull and the traditional colors of a movie theater. The red soda cup, the red carpet, red seats, and even red candy boxes. The orange/gold shades are to represent other colors commonly associated with movies. Things like the gold lining to display the lavishness of a movie premiere.

Type Kit

The type kit chosen for this app had to be friendly and easy to read, so that children could read the words with no issues. The header font was chosen because of its rounded edges and small variations on letters which add character to it.
