NDSS Student Council Raises Funds for Loaves and Fishes

The Nanaimo District Student Council proudly announces their successful fundraising initiative in support of Loaves and Fishes. The student council raised a total of $1,010 to aid Loaves and Fishes in their vital mission. This impressive sum was generated entirely from ticket sales for the school's recent dance.

"We are excited to be able to donate this money to such a worthy cause," said Jasmine Park, President of the Nanaimo District Student Council. "By coming together and supporting Loaves and Fishes, we are making a tangible difference in the lives of those facing food insecurity in our community."

The funds raised will directly contribute to Loaves and Fishes' efforts to provide nutritious meals, essential resources, and support services to individuals and families experiencing hardship. This contribution underscores the NDSS Student Council's commitment to social responsibility and their dedication to serving the broader community.

In particular with respect to land, resources and governance. Tackling such themes as ongoing colonial policies, the invisibility of Métis women in court decisions, identity politics, and racist legal principles, they uncover the troubling issues that plague Métis aspirations for a just future.
