Spirited Arts
Get creative through this cross-curricular competition!
The competition is a fantastic way to engage teachers and students while boosting the profile of RE in your school. Some schools integrate the competition into RE lessons with a ‘Spirited Arts’ unit or a RE/arts week. Winning entries will provide a good response to one of the 6 themes, and judges will be asking ‘Is it original?’ ‘Is it well-crafted?’ And (most importantly!) ‘Is it excellent RE?’ Pupils can enter individually, in pairs or groups, or as whole class, year, or school entries. We have also been pleased to receive entries from whole community groups in previous years.
Ambitious RE : Creative, Critical and Challenging
Following on from the success of previous training days, led by Lat Blaylock and Angela Hill from R.E. Today, we are arranging an eighth annual conference. We expect this to be an ‘in-person’ event but there will be the option to join virtually if you wish. Details and programme attached. Lunch is provided.
The training will again be led by Lat Blaylock and Angela Hill. Following the success of training in previous years, the programme will again be designed to provide some general cross-phase input as well as some specific phase based sessions where participants will be divided into primary and secondary groups.
This training is provided at a cost of £50 per place. This training is separate to the SLA provided by the Diocese of Lichfield. Schools will be charged for attendance unless the place is cancelled by Friday 13th February. Unfortunately individual schools will be responsible for meeting any cover costs.
If you would like to book places on this training please complete the booking form: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/REToday2026 by Monday 9th February 2026 at the latest
Draw Near: Life-giving habits for Lent.
The Church of England’s theme for Lent 2026 is Draw Near: Life-giving habits for Lent.
This year’s resources have at their heart the theme of a ‘rhythm of life’ – habits and patterns which help us grow as disciples of Christ day by day, especially as we prepare to celebrate the great mystery of God’s saving love at Easter.
"Draw Near is all about teaching us how we can cultivate the habits and practices that will draw us nearer to God. And we will find that, in doing so, God will draw nearer to us, too."
Archbishop-elect Sarah Mullally & Archbishop Stephen Cottrell
