The Pocket Press

Term 2 | Week 4 | 2026

Inspiring - Inclusive - Empowered

We acknowledge the Minjungbal people, of the Bundjalung Nation, who are the original custodians of the land on which the school proudly stands. We raise our hands to the sky that covers the Aboriginal land. We touch the ground in the care of the Aboriginal land. We place our hands on our hearts in love of the Aboriginal land.

Aurora College

This week Tate has headed off to the Aurora College Camp. Tate participates in Aurora College each day, engaging in lessons in Science and Mathematics virtually. We can't wait to hear all about the adventures and learning from camp.

Winter Festival

The Winter Festival planning is heating up! Everything is booked in, we are now turning our focus to our volunteers. This week you will receive a volunteers letter. We would love parents to fill in and return the slip as soon as possible to enable us to plan and prepare for the incredible activities.

Sport

Basketball Champions The boys basketball team took on Ocean Shores and Brunswick in the first two rounds of the PSSA knock out competition... and they won! The first game was a close one which saw The Pocket team winning by just one point! While the game against Brunswick Heads saw the boys hit their sweet spot, winning by 40 points!  Congratulations.

Headlands Cross Country Congratulations to the team that ran in the Headlands Cross Country on Friday - it is always a tough course with a killer hill! Well done to Juniper and Miles for their impressive performances, progressing through to the Far North Coast championships.

Girls Soccer The girls soccer team is training twice per week in preparation for their first few games against Mullumbimby and Brunswick Heads. Their coach, Bluey, is super excited about how passionate and enthusiastic they are.

In School Sport This term we have Brett from Byron Bay Basketball coming in to coach our classes. His first session is Tuesday next week.

Athletics Carnival Sigge has been busy preparing our 400m track in the back field. We have also changed our morning fitness rotations to incorporate some of our field events. Be sure to keep Tuesday, 2 June free so you can come along.

The Arts

Band Our school band has been at rehearsal each week, preparing some epic tunes! This year we have had an influx of students wanting to join so Maryse and Holly have had to form two bands!

Uniform

Be sure to label all of your children's clothing as we head into winter. Jumpers end up everywhere and we can't find the owners if they don't have a name. We find that writing your child's name on the inside of the colour and the tag helps to identify who owns them. Although the sun doesn't seem as harsh over winter, we still make sure our children are wearing hats at recess and lunch so be sure to pack your child's hat each day.

Front of School

All students need to either stay seated on the silver seat or next to their parents during pick up time. When the bus has left we are more relaxed about this rule. All parents need to ensure that their child stays inside the gate until they are with a supervising adult.
