SCS Carline

Dear Bluejay Family,

The first day of school is almost here! We are counting down the hours until our Bluejays return to campus, and we want to make sure everyone is ready for a smooth and joyful start.

As a reminder, carline procedures will look different to begin the year while our construction project continues. It is essential that all families review the updated traffic flow and drop-off instructions before reporting to campus. Following the guidelines carefully will help us keep students safe and carline moving efficiently. You can find all the details here.

Additionally, please remember that school pictures will be taken on Wednesday and Thursday. Students should arrive in proper uniform and well-groomed so they look their best for photos. These will be used on IDs and in our yearbook. If you have questions about uniform guidelines or grooming, please refer to page 33 in the handbook.

Thank you for your cooperation and support as we begin this exciting new year together. We can’t wait to see you bright and early on Wednesday morning (or Thursday if you are in the second half of PreK/K)!

PTC

PTC is hosting a stock the lounge for our faculty/staff to kick off the school year. If you would like to participate, please click on the link below

Spirit Shop will be open during New Parent Orientation & Unpack the Backpack on August 4th in the Memorial Library (behind admin).

Our 1st PTC meeting will be held Sunday, August 3rd, at 3:30pm in the PLC (building between school and church).

Homeroom Assignments

Homeroom Assignments will be in the following locations for reference on Monday, August 4th:

• Grades 1-3, Front Office Breezeway
• Grades 4-8, Gym Entrance by the 5th-grade building

Spirit Shirts

Spirit shirts and House shirts are allowed to be worn on Fridays, unless it's a Mass day, and for field trips. Please use the link below to order spirit shirts. It is the same shirt as '24-'25. New students will be placed in their Houses on Friday, August 8th; so waiting to order House shirts until after this date is advised.

Bus Transportation Update

We are excited to welcome our new morning bus driver, Laura Smith, Bus #188! Parents are welcome to contact her prior to the start of school at 337-277-6807.

The afternoon bus driver will remain the same as last year, Irvin "Buddy" LeBlanc, Bus #397.

Please note: LPSS transportation will begin on Thursday, August 7th. There will be no bus service on Wednesday, August 6th, which is our first day of school. Please plan accordingly.

IMPORTANT ACTION NEEDED!!!

In order to set up your child’s Hallow account, Hallow needs your permission. Please complete THIS FORM by August 1 so we can begin using the app as soon as possible. If you have more than one child at SCS you will only fill out one form but there is an option to add more student names. Please be sure to add all your children who are at SCS.

Registration for fall small groups opens on August 10 and groups start in September. Be on the lookout in the coming weeks for more details- including groups specific to SCS parents!

Summer AR - Last Testing Session

The last time to test for your summer AR grades and Tag incentive will be Monday, August 4. The Tag on Tuesday Summer Tag Celebration will be on August 19.

Sunday Meetings-Set up for success!

We encourage our families to have Sunday meetings to prepare for the week. Bluejay Bulletins are released, and lesson plans are due by Sunday at 4 pm. Please sit down with your child and help them write in their planner and prepare for the week ahead. Remember, the best resource for information is communication from the teacher (FACTS homework, class newsletters, google classroom/sites).

2025 Picture Day

Handbook Contract & acceptable use policy

In an effort to streamline getting Student Handbook Contracts and Acceptable Use Policy Forms, please complete the form below. One form will be used for each student. Thanks!

The Student Handbook can be found online under Resource Documents in FACTS. The Acceptable Use Policy is also found within the Students Handbook. Please be reminded that students will not be allowed to use ANY computers on campus until this form is completed.

Attention All 6th Graders

Attention 6th Grade Students and Parents! Does your child love to sing, or do they play a musical instrument? I am excited to offer them a Music Ministry Club for any 6th grade student to join if they wish to participate in leading music with me for our School Masses this year.

The only requirements are for you to have an open heart to Praise God in song, the ability to sing and/or play an instrument, and a respectful attitude for the Holy Mass.

Meetings/Rehearsals will be offered for any 6th grade student on Tuesday afternoons from 3:00-4:00 PM, beginning September 2, 2025. PLEASE NOTE that we will not meet one Tuesday per month due to our Faculty Meetings scheduled. A full calendar of rehearsal dates will be provided with more details once you have signed up.

Join the SCS PTC

The primary purpose of the SCS PTC is as follows:

• To advance & support St. Cecilia School’s mission: Centered in Christ and rooted in historical, Catholic tradition, St. Cecilia strives to form missionary disciples and foster academic excellence in a culture of family.
• To promote parent involvement in school activities & to increase members’ interest in the educational affairs of the school.
• To enhance the parent and teachers’ role in the education of the child; increasing parents’ knowledge of education & its process by increasing the parents & teachers mutual understanding of children & also by providing an opportunity for parents and teachers to work together for the good of the child.
