GETTING STARTED with SFSP
Marketing is one of the most effective tools for increasing participation in summer meals.
It is important to promote your summer meals program on an ongoing basis. Do it before summer begins, during summer operations, and before any changes take place (such as times, service options, or locations). Consistency is key—even if there isn’t anything new or different to share, regularly promoting your program can remind families that summer meals are something that they can rely on.
Think about the families in your community and consider how they typically receive information. Utilize the channels that families are familiar with to share information.
Check your website to ensure that information about your summer meals program is up-to-date and easy for families to find. Ideally, this information should be located on the homepage.
Make sure the information includes details about the times and locations of meals being served; any activities provided; and menus of planned meals. Be sure to include contact information so that families can reach out with any questions.
Summer EBT Outreach
Nebraska will be participating in Summer EBT for Summer 2026! This program is designed to support kids and families when school is out with food benefits on EBT cards that can be spent anywhere SNAP is accepted.
