We have been on the move this summer, and the fall is shaping up to be one of LFYO’s busiest seasons with our upcoming back-to-school programming and 2024 Fundraising Luncheon on September 20th. As Central Ohio’s leader in financial life skills for low-to-moderate-income communities, what an awesome privilege it is for us to serve as the bridge between participants' present reality and their future possibility. We show them today what life can (or will) be like down the road. LFYO provides each youth and young adult with the game plan to succeed educationally, financially, relationally, professionally, personally, nutritionally, and inspirationally. How so? Through our time-tested process of exposure-, experience-, and expectation-related activities.
2024 Financial Life Skills Summer Camp Experience
LFYO teamed up with Columbus Park and Recreation, local businesses, Chef Jim Warner, CampUCan, City Change, and the GoodLife Foundation at First Church during June and July. Middle school and high school students were provided with unforgettable learning experiences in the classroom and on real-world, field trip excursions. Topics included financial wellness, physical fitness, nutritional wholeness, spiritual enrichment, personal branding, business startup, emotional resilience, public speaking, charitable giving, college (and trade school) planning, and career forecasting, among many other life- and legacy-development areas. Over 160 youth participated in the summer camps. Check out the recap of the 2024 Financial Life Skills Summer Camp Experience below:

2024 LFYO Fundraising Luncheon
On September 20th, we are hosting our 2024 LFYO Fundraising Luncheon at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse. Last year we secured 20 sponsors and raised over $150,000. We honored former OSU athletic director, Gene Smith, for his leadership and mentorship in guiding Buckeye Nation. He challenged attendees to leave their mark on the world by their generous acts of kindness in meeting the needs of hurting people. He said, “To be remembered is to live a life that truly mattered.” Former OSU basketball star and current CBS sports analyst, Clark Kellogg, inspired guests with his timely message on the attributes that define change agents and difference-makers in the philanthropic community. His command of the English language and gift of grab caught everyone’s attention. “If change is going to happen,” he highlighted, “then it must start with what you are willing to do.” This year, OSU gridiron great and 2003 national champion, Mike Doss, will be one of our featured speakers. OSU basketball legend and ex-NBA star, Jim Jackson, will be in attendance. Jackson is a Fox Sports and TNT basketball analyst, and has been the keynote speaker or MC at two previous LFYO fundraising events. Other ex-OSU athletes and sports celebrities who are scheduled to attend this year’s luncheon include Brad Sellers, Jason Singleton, Evan Turner, Kevin Martin (ex-NBA All Star), Stanley Jackson, Dee Miller, and Michael Wiley. To date, we are on pace to secure 25 sponsors for the 2024 fundraising luncheon, with an expected crowd of nearly 150 guests.
2024 Partnership Opportunities with Public and Charter Schools
The 2024-2025 school year is shaping up to be one of LFYO’s most significant partnership opportunities, with interest from Millennium Community School, United Schools Network, and Scottwood Elementary School. These potential partnerships will allow us to impact more than 1,000 students in the following areas: appreciating the value and necessity of academic excellence; understanding the world of personal finance; getting started on the right credit history and wealth-building foot; establishing a viable banking relationship with a financial institution; and creating a successful personal development game plan with the help of key mentors.
