As we approach the holy month of Ramadan, we want to ensure that all students observing the fast feel supported and comfortable at school. If your child requires any special accommodations, such as an alternate space during lunch or adjustments during physical activities, please let us know. Registration now open for BCPS summer fine arts camps

Mental Health Webinar

We are excited to share a valuable opportunity to support the mental health of children and families, brought to our attention by our dedicated school nurse, Nurse Cannon. The Children's Mental Health Matters Campaign, in collaboration with the Mental Health Association of Maryland, is offering a series of Children's Mental Health Webinars designed to foster learning and connection among families, educators, community members, and advocates.

Webinar Details

  • Schedule: Third Thursday of month
  • Time: 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. ET
  • Format: One-hour sessions featuring a guest speaker, followed by a facilitated group discussion and resource sharing.

BCPS Haiku Contest opens Mon, Feb. 24

The 2025 Team BCPS Haiku Contest is back and better than everβ€” including bigger prizes for student winners! New this year, each winner will receive a $100 Amazon gift card and special gift basket provided by the Education Foundation. Winners will also receive prizes from The Ivy Bookshop as well as a framed print of their haiku and the artwork that inspired it.

BCPS students, from Kindergarten through Grade 12, are encouraged to enter. Students will be asked to write works inspired by a piece of student artwork selected from among 10 pieces.

Entries for the annual BCPS Haiku Poetry Contest will be accepted online from Monday, February 24, through 4:45 p.m. on Friday, March 7.

Clothing Donations Requested!

Nurse Cannon is accepting donations for children's clothes size 4 to 6. πŸ‘•πŸ‘–

As a friendly reminder, it is best practice for students, especially in PreK-2, to keep a change of clothes in their locker in case of an accident.

virtual snow days are here

All future "snow day" will be a virtual school day for students!
Virtual Snow Day Packets have been created for each grade level and have been sent home. Please store these packets in a safe place in case they are needed for our next snow day.
  • How to Participate: Instructions for completing the packet and accessing virtual learning are included on the cover page. Additional details will be provided by the school and individual teachers if a virtual learning day is activated.
  • Student Devices: Student devices will not be sent home. Students can receive attendance credit by either participating virtually or completing their snow day packet.
  • Technology Access: If your family does not have access to the internet, a mobile phone, tablet, or personal computer at home, please notify your child's homeroom teacher as soon as possible so we can make the necessary arrangements.

Volunteer Training

Any parents/guardians coming into classrooms to volunteer or to chaperone field trips are required to complete BCPS volunteer training.

This school year, students and their parents/caregivers will be financially responsible for intentional damage to or loss of any Chromebook or other devices assigned to the student. As an instructional tool, there is no initial cost for BCPS students to receive a Chromebook or other devices, but students/families will be financially responsible when there is avoidable damage to the device.
