This week we’ve been really pleased with the effort and enthusiasm pupils have been showing in their learning. In lessons across the school, we’re seeing our learners getting involved, having a go, and sticking with tasks even when they’re challenging. It’s been great to see pupils asking thoughtful questions, contributing confidently, and taking pride in their work. This week our school received a regional award for sustainability. We will upload more information on this to our website over the coming days. Our mission to connect with nature is one we will continue to develop over the year with our commnity. Putting in effort to all aspects of our school makes a real difference, it’s lovely to see so many pupils embracing this, giving their best each day. This positive approach helps them grow not just in their academic skills, but also in confidence and independence. Thank you to our staff and families for the continued encouragement and support — together, we’re helping to create a happy, motivated school where learning really matters. We've much planned over the year to further support this! Mwynhau'r penwythnos! Diolch!
Fun-filled week in Dosbarth Alwen with lots of hands on learning. We have really enjoyed reading "Lost and Found" by Oliver Jeffers and have created some amazing Stop Motion videos on the iPads from a scene of the book, made boats in the creative area using recycled materials, we created homes in the playdough for the penguins & explored floating and sinking in a science experiment.
This week in Dosbarth Padarn we have been learning about how heavy and light objects are. We had great fun using the scales to balance objects with cubes. We have continued with our story ‘Peace at last’ by writing setting descriptions and starting to rewrite the story. The children have really enjoyed completing and uploading pictures of their weekly missions. They are learning to become very independent in these tasks 😊. As we have been learning about weight and balance, one of our missions this week has been to build a bridge and balance the bears. The children really enjoyed this and have been building and improving their bridges all week. I am super proud of the children practicing their phonic sounds independently in the areas this week. Da iawn pawb!
We’ve had a busy and exciting time in Tegid! During our Udeskole sessions, the children explored weaving using natural materials. They showed great creativity and perseverance while developing their fine motor skills and appreciation for outdoor learning as well as creating fishing rods like the celts. For National Reading Week, we enjoyed a special book review activity. The children shared their thoughts about books they have read and recommended them to a friend. It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm for reading and their confidence in talking about stories.
In art, we created beautiful pieces inspired by Jen Delyth, exploring Celtic patterns and designs. The children took great care with their painting and produced some striking artwork.
In maths, we have been learning to tell the time, focusing on quarter past and quarter to the hour. Please continue to practise this skill at home where possible. In PE, we completed a fun and energetic Celtic warrior circuit, building our strength, coordination and teamwork skills. We are proud of how Class Tegid continues to embrace learning.
Yn Dosbarth Brenig we explored the ideas of a Celt and what we would experience as we further our diary writing skills. We became Beli and created our settlement on Moel Hebog.
In maths we have continued our work on fractions, progressing to 5ths and 6ths. Some of our friends have used numbers and others have been adding fractions.
Next week we will continue our artistic crafts, more Udeskole sessions and begin planning our next half term. Don't forget our class assembly next week!
We've had another great week in Dosbarth Gwynant! We have enjoyed creating our own 'tales from the Mimosa' journals to show case all our wonderful work from throughout this topic. We have explored our artist focus, Kyffin Williams, and talked confidently about his works and how they represent Wales and Patagonia. We then had a go at designing our own paintings inspired by Kyffin, ready for our Eisteddfod! Maths has also been hands on and creative this week as we used our teamwork skills to start to construct our whole class model of the Y Wladfa settlement using 3D shape nets. We can't wait to share photos next week of the final product!
