What super athletes we have in Saltney Ferry! All pupils and staff had a great time today taking part in the mini marathon, what an achievement. I am not on site next week as I am in London on a residential with Bryn Coch, any concerns please contact either Mrs Hughes or Mr Lloyd. See you on the 12th! Please do look at the dates section as we've noted all dates to the end of the Summer term. We'll keep you up to date on any changes through Dojo. Have a great bank holiday! L. Williams Headteacher
Dosbarth Alwen have made us burst with pride this week! From litter picking in the community to performing in our class assembly for the rest of the school & parents👏🤩 A great opportunity for them to showcase our learning so far this term. We have made the most of this glorious weather with lots of outdoor learning🌞🕶️ we began reading our new book "The Lion Inside" by Rachel Bright making predictions after stopping at a key point in the story & talking about the characters and story so far. We enjoyed finding out the ending of our story today before home time📚
We started the week off by having a British Sign language session which the children really took to and had a good go at signing. We have been coming up with ideas to create a kindness garden area. We have worked together to write a letter to local businesses asking for donations! In maths we have been using the numicon to create teen numbers and understanding the tens and ones in numbers and even looked at hundreds too. We have continued to look at speech in our literacy and started writing a speech about our favourite things. The weather has been so lovely that we’ve spent lots of time outside and have been revamping our outdoor areas.
Brenig have had an immersive week of farming! Our visit to see Farmer Cheryl was themed around the financial costing of running a farm. We met her team of staff, animals and had a tour of the barns. The group learnt about what daily tasks are needed and the responsibility of caring for big animals! Our trip was funded through Young Enterprise for which our pupils are really grateful. We've finalised our letters of thanks to send to Cheryl. Next week we will be learning more around financial skills and recording finance for our own farm.
Dosbarth Gwynant have had another busy week full of wonderful learning and hard work! We continued our research project with Wrexham University by conducting and recording interviews about the positive impact of the farm on our education and well-being! Our literacy work focused on instruction writing to help us with planting more of our pea seeds for our business. I was blown away as always by the self-reflection and purple pen editing our class had done this week🙌🏻 We also loved completing the mini marathon this week, pushing ourselves and having fun encouraging each other. It was so lovely to see!

No club this week as we had a visit from past pupils - the original Ferry Farmers! Their passion and interest in our school farm drove it's progress. With thanks to them, we have changed the way of looking at learning, through real first hand experiences never done before in our area of North Wales.
We met with Lisa from Wrexham University to share their views on our school farm, its impact and how it helped them. Looking forward to sharing with you all that has been collated to evidence the impact of having a school farm!
