Welcome to the the 2025-2026 Broughal Music Blast! Broughal's Band is excited spread some holiday cheer at the annual Fountain Hill Tree Lighting Ceremony on Sunday, 12/7, at 4:30 PM. Plus, our annual Winter Concert, featuring ALL Broughal Music ensembles, is just a few days away. We hope you will celebrate the season and enjoy some music with us in Broughal's auditorium, on Thursday, 12/11, at 7 PM! Check out the Blast for more details. Go Rockets! Fountain Hill Tree Lighting - Sunday, 12/7
On Sunday, 12/7, the Broughal Band will be performing at the Fountain Hill Tree Lighting Ceremony. Students in Majorettes or Honor Guard will NOT be performing for this event but are welcome to attend. The ceremony will take place across the street from the Fountain Hill Fire Department (950 Cherokee Street, Fountain Hill, PA 18015). Students in Band should dress comfortably, wearing jeans, Broughal colors, and any festive clothing. For more details, please review the following schedule. Winter Concert - Thursday, 12/11
On Thursday, 12/11, Broughal Music will be hosting our Winter Concert! This event will feature students in Southside Singers, Orchestra, Jazz Band, Band, Majorettes, and Honor Guard. Students should wear Concert Black clothing for this performance. Check out the following schedule for more details. If you have any questions, please contact one of the Directors.

- 5:00 PM: Orchestra & Chorus report to the Band/Chorus Rooms for Pictures. Use the Main Entrance on Morton Street. Wear Concert Black clothing.
- 6:15 PM: Band, Majorettes, Honor Guard report to the Band Room. Use the Main Entrance on Morton Street. Wear Concert Black clothing.
- 6:30 PM: Doors open to Audience
- 7:00 PM: Winter Concert begins
- 8:30 PM: Winter Concert ends. Students are dismissed to parents/guardians.

Tickets will be available for purchase at the Auditorium doors. We accept cash, check, and money order made payable to "Broughal Music Parents Organization" or "BMPO."
Picture Day for Orchestra & Southside Singers - Thursday, 12/11
Pictures Day for students in Orchestra and/or Southside Singers is on Thursday, 12/11, before the Winter Concert, starting at 5 PM. Students should wear CONCERT BLACK clothing for Picture Day and the Winter Concert. For more details on how to pre-order pictures, please check out the following information from Christmas City Studio. If you have any questions, please contact one of the Directors as soon as possible.
Liberty HS Holiday Concert - Friday, 12/12
The instrumental and vocal directors from Liberty High School have invited Broughal's Southside Singers and Orchestra to attend their daytime concert on Friday, 12/12, for FREE! This concert takes place during the school day and is not open to the public. Students would miss Periods 1-3 and return to Period 4 at the latest. Transportation will be provided. Please review the following schedule for more details:

Pretty soon, we will have our Winter Concert to showcase everything Broughal Music has done during the first half of the school year! Students wear all black clothing and shoes for the Winter Concert and the Spring Concert. Please use the included picture as an example and read the following information for more details. Liberty HS Grenadier Band - Summer Band
If you are in 8th grade, are going to Liberty HS next year, and want to join band, then mark your calendars for Summer Band! Summer Band occurs during August and is the first time the Liberty HS Grenadier Band (LHSGB) meets to prepare for football season and parades. All rehearsals are MANDATORY! Mandatory Music Meeting - Presentation
Our first music meeting for the 2025-2026 school year was on Thursday, September 4th, at 7:30 PM, in Broughal's Auditorium! During this meeting, we discussed important information for Broughal Music this year, including fundraisers, performances, trips, and rules & expectations. Instrumental Music Lessons
Lessons began on Tuesday, September 2. All instrumental music students should have received their first lesson assignments during the first week of school, in homeroom. Please note that all lessons take place during the students' Related Arts periods. Early-Morning Rehearsals
Early-morning rehearsals began on Wednesday, September 3. Students should report to the main entrance on Morton Street as early as 6:55 AM but no later than 7:05 AM, on their assigned rehearsal day, based on the following rehearsal schedule:
- MONDAYS: Jazz Band
- TUESDAYS: NO EARLY-MORNING
- WEDNESDAYS: Band, Majorettes, Honor Guard
- THURSDAYS: NO EARLY-MORNING
- FRIDAYS: Band, Majorettes, Honor Guard

Handbook Forms Due - Wednesday, 10/1
Like past years, we will be using Google Forms to collect your responses for your Handbook Forms. CLICK HERE to access and complete your forms. If you need paper copies of the Handbook Forms, please contact one of the Directors. All electronic and paper Handbook Forms are due by Wednesday, 10/1. Don't forget to fill out the paper BASD Medical Form (English | Español) in addition to the electronic forms!
Volunteers Needed
One of the most helpful ways to assist Broughal Music is by volunteering! Depending on the event, you'll be assisting and supporting students and directors so that EVERYONE can have a successful, stress-free performance/event! If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Mr. Stoltz (astoltz@basdschools.org) as soon as possible and let him know which of the following events you would like to volunteer for:

Spring Trip Cost - CONFIRMED
Now that we have received final prices from Dorney Park and Music in the Parks, we can confirm the prices for our Spring Trip on Friday, May 15, 2026. Please review the following figures for more details. These prices include the cost of the charter bus, trip t-shirt, food and drink, park admission, and the music competition fee. Your trip cost will be reduced if you have a Dorney Pass. All trip payments are due on Thursday, April 9, 2026. If you have any questions, please contact one of the directors.

Gertrude Hawk Candy Fundraiser
Our first fundraiser has ended! Check out the following details for more information on our first and one of our most popular fundraisers:
- Boxes of candy are available for pick-up in the Band Room. Students must be accompanied by a parent/guardian when signing out boxes of candy.
- There are 48 bars in each candy box. Each candy bar costs $2.50 (2 for $5.00). Students should return $120 to the BMPO. All money and orders were due on Thursday, 9/25.
- For each box sold, students earn $50 towards their Broughal Music account.

$50 Fair Share Due Thursday, 9/25
The $50 Fair Share was due on Thursday, 9/25. We use this money to purchase music, supplies, clothing, food, and beverages. We also use these funds to pay for transportation, field trips, and various items and events throughout the school year. If you have any questions, please contact the directors as soon as possible.

The document is organized by Student ID number, so make sure you have the ID number ready. If you cannot find your child's ID number, please contact Mr. Stoltz (astoltz@basdschools.org).
Do you know when your next lesson is? Have you been practicing your instrument? Check the Lesson Schedule regularly so that you are prepared for your next lesson. Remember, you need to attend 17 lessons per instrument in order to attend the Spring Trip!
