Flood Preparations
The N.D. National Guard Joint Force Headquarters Domestic Operations section provided a flood operations course of action brief to Maj. Gen. Al Dohrmann, the adjutant general, and the Joint staff. The purpose of the brief was to receive guidance on planning to ensure the Guard is prepared for possible spring flooding.
Funeral Honors Training
The North Dakota National Guard's 816th Military Police Company conducted Funeral Honors training this past week at Raymond J. Bohn armory in Bismarck. These Soldiers will render funeral honors when they are called upon. Sgt. Tashael Rick explains.
Winter Driver Training
The Soldiers of the 817th Engineer Company (SAPPER) recently conducted driver training at Camp Grafton Training Center on Jan 10 to 11. This was the first time in recent history these Sappers exercised their military driving skills during severe winter conditions. Soldiers were able to familiarize themselves with unique driving challenges associated with temperatures as low as negative 17 degrees.
The Woodrow W. Keeble Award
Brig. Gen. Jackie Huber, deputy adjutant, presented Lt. Col. Mark McEvers The Woodrow W. Keeble "Je Suis Pret" (I am Ready) Award on Jan. 11 during the Joint Force Headquarters drill in Bismarck. McEvers was recognized for saving a life at a recreational basketball league game in Jamestown in 2013 after a player collapsed and stopped breathing. McEvers efficiently employed an automated external defibrillator to help save the man's life.
Education Benefits
N.D. State University (NDSU) President, Dean Bresciani and 119th Wing commander, Col. Darrin Anderson signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Jan. 14 on the NDSU campus. The MOU creates a process to transfer professional military education credits into undergraduate level academic programs at NDSU. The transfer of credits will reduce the number of classes to obtain a degree for N.D. Air National Guard members. N.D. Army Aviators Support Visit to State
On Jan. 10, N.D. Army National Guard aviators were tasked to transport U.S. Sen. Kevin Cramer and the recently designated commander of U.S. Space Command, Gen. John Raymond and staff, from Grand Forks Air Force Base to Cavalier Air Force Station (CAFS) for a command visit. The mission called for two UH-60 Black Hawks which flew in wind chill temperatures of negative 25 degrees. CAFS staff said these were the first helicopters to land at the air station in 15 to 20 years.

141th MEB Dining-Out
The 141st Maneuver Enhancement Brigade (MEB) conducted a dining-out at Avalon Event Center in Fargo on Jan. 11. Over 150 Soldiers and their guests participated in the formal dinner activities. Maj. Gen. Al Dohrmann was the keynote speaker.
