2023 In Review: Part 1, Jan-June Pawsburgh Photography 12.28.2023

I'm not sure how to describe 2023, it was a pretty good year, but it certainly had its ups and downs. The cover photo here is my favorite photo this year, both for its content and where I took it from, Heinz Field (ahem). You can't just walk in there and take this view, and I was there for a unique celebration of life event for a dear friend's brother. So let's dive into 2023 in review, and let the photos speak for how the year went!

January 2023

2023 started mainly with Mount Alvernia. Eileen and I first finished documenting Scotus Hall, the high school activities building. If you missed them, I've published a few blog posts on my time documenting Mount Alvernia for Q Development, LLC.
Synod Hall in Oakland has been undergoing renovations and before they started, I was granted access to document the interior! I had never been inside and it was a wonderful opportunity.
I had most of the Motherhouse documented when I realized I had missed an entire hallway on the first floor! (Not really hard to do, this place is a palace!) That's how I missed the double stairway on the first floor! I literally lost sleep thinking about how that happened.
Finishing that first floor hallway, and then I realized I'd also missed the main entrance interior!
It's a little disappointing that my husband's company moved their offices out of Chatham Center in Uptown! I was able to snag these great views from the windows on our way out the door. We'll be back to document Church of the Epiphany.
In one of the only snow events we had this year, Eileen and I documented the "art building" (now used by the daycare) and the "guest house" which I later found out was the music studio for the high school at Mount Alvernia! They practiced chorus in the "great room" and had pianos in each bedroom for individual lessons. The sister who taught music is still alive today at 101 and still playing!
One of my very favorite houses (Bellevue) went on the market and sold pretty quickly!
When it snowed, there was only one place to go - the Mount!
