Hockey Trip to Lee Valley

This week a group of Year 7 to 9 pupils went to watch four games of international hockey in the Pro League competition at Lee Valley Hockey Centre.

The students were treated to two Great Britain wins, one for the men and one for the women’s team and four fantastic games of hockey against Spain, China, Germany and Australia. Four of our Year 7 students were lucky enough to be mascots for nearly all of the games and ran out with the players onto the pitch for the national anthems. Then a further eight students were lucky enough to carry the flags onto the pitch. They even made it onto national TV! At the end of each match, the students had to chance to speak to and get the autographs of some of their hockey heroes!

"I really enjoyed the trip. It was great fun hanging out with friends and watching some inspirational hockey! My favourite bit was when we got signatures from the players and the dancing and cheering when a goal was scored! Thanks for the trip." Neve, Year 9
"I really enjoyed the hockey trip because it gave us an opportunity to see amazing hockey and see how the athletes play and use skills that we are taught in a match. It was also amazing to see and talk to, not only the England players, but other countries' players as well. Thank you!” Isla, Year 9
"The hockey was amazing, as we got to see GB score a goal right in front of us and then see them win. Plus I got some autographs on my GB bag!" Bea, Year 7
"It was amazing to run out with the GB women for their game and be the mascot while singing the anthem. And then loads of internationals signed my mascot shirt as well!" Maddie, Year 7

Well done and thank you to Mr George and Mrs Ashley for joining Mr Palmer to look after the students. It was a great day out watching some quality hockey!

Boarders' Evening Walk

The boarders have been making the most of the lighter evenings and warmer weather and have been heading out for evening walks across the fields and to Downingbury Farm Shop.

As well as great exercise, this has proven to be a calming activity to help with exam stress, also allowing time for bonding.
