MSE Tardy Policy

Being on time is essential for success in middle school. Students are expected to be on time for class--that means during the day from class to class they do not exceed their 5 minutes of passing, or in the morning they arrive to school on time. Parents, please get your student to school before 8:00 if you are driving them. Any student who arrives after 8:00am without a documented reason (ex. doctor's appointment) will receive a tardy. Please see MSE's tardy policy below and have a conversation with your child about getting to school on time, getting from class to class on time, and maximizing their learning so they avoid the following consequences.

Attendance

Attendance at school is very important, and we want every kid at MSE every day where they can best learn! Please make every effort to have your child in school, and on time, every day. In the event that a child has to miss school for being sick, or for an appointment, documentation is required (doctors note, etc). According the LCPS Code of Conduct, family vacations during regular school days are discouraged and those days may count towards truancy. According to the LCPS Board Policy and Code of Conduct, any student who misses 10 days of school will receive and letter and may be referred to the Macomb County Truancy Officer for absences beyond that. If you need help getting your child to school please reach out to Mr. MacIntosh or your child's counselor!
