ABOUT ME:

Hello, My name is Jubril Hassan, I am a practicing and aspiring artist who wishes to be a:

  • Concept Artist or Digital Artist.
  • Animator (Mostly 2D)
  • Game Developer/Game Designer (I'm additionally fine with either one).

With 6-8 years of experience, mostly on drawing celebrations, fanart and concept sketches on pop culture and various fictional media, real life figures and observances. I dream to enter a apprenticeship in either art, animation or in game design and development.

I aspire to be extremely hard-working, innovative and resourceful enough to create a video game series, with multiple ideas and the drive to make them come true with enough grit, an assortment of different and creative thinking to solve different problems and the inclination to communicate and work with colleagues and employees.

ARTWORK:

Personal + College Assignment Artwork.

HYBRID ASSIGNMENT:

This assignment was based on the topic of 'hybrid' so I developed some sketches and digital artwork for characters that are fitting for this theme. This was meant to create and develop ideas for a hypothetical game design assignment.

First of which were two examples; an object hybrid and an animal hybrid. For the object hybrid, I chose two objects; a soft drink and a stone mallet, then I combined them to make an anthropomorphic character in the style of an object show character.

Next is the digital edition of that sketch, where many of the elements from each object incorporate into a single being such as the straw mallet and the glass head, exposing both lemonade and cola.

The next hybrid classification is the animal hybrid; where I choose animals that are very unlikely to ever consider combining yet it also brings a lot of ideas & possibilities to experiment on.

First of which is a pig and a worm hybrid and has each of their characteristics fused such as nose tails, slimy hooves and a rolled up body.

Next here is both of the animals combined and since pigs and worms are in varying shades of pink this was easy to implement on.

Now I introduce you to one of the four main protagonists, an object hybrid who is made from the combination of a comb and a paintbrush named Undudo Peirillic. Here you can see a sketch and each of the object's elements and how they're mixed into one.

Next here is the digital format of him in a coloured background as well.

For the first animal hybrid I chose two small yet distinctive animals; a bumblebee and a garden slug to create a animal hybrid named Trobomus who has many bee and slug combined traits such as eye wings, hornet tail and a striped body.

I've coloured in the character profile of Trobomus in Adobe Photoshop and listed the many traits too.

For the tritagonist, it is a another object hybrid but made from the mix of a shrub and pastry, meet Cedazi Woostry. As you can tell you can see many combined traits of Cedazi such as the doughnuts acting like berries or the baguette stump.

For the digital edition of Cedazi, I've done it in Adobe Photoshop and took a lot more of her pastry side in the colour scheme (such as having pink, indigo and ivory) but made up by giving her the tree physique.

As to conclude, the final protagonist is a animal hybrid, sporting the hybrid traits of a cow and a monkey, and her name is Pustles Batevon and below the concept art are the listings of the many traits she has.

In addition, I present to you Pusteles' character profile but in digital format as a result of being created and coloured on Adobe Photoshop. You can also truly see the mixture of Pustles traits such as horns, darker spotted body and unique tail.

Concept Pitch Assignment - Whatever Grains/Berries In Need.

We were tasked on creating, designing and developing a idea for a concept pitch and a pitch bible for what we could include in our hypothetical game design, for me I chose to make a platformer game idea with 2 young workers; one with pig attributes and a another who got turned into a possessed corn husk doll, trying to prevent the ghostly transmutation of cereal-based dolls throughout the land.

Below here, is the first draft of a concept sketch for one of the two main characters; Marnceit, a young man with pig features. (I chose a pig theme because I find pigs to be very misunderstood and underrated animals.) In the concept sketch are the facial expressions, attempted rotation sheet and full body reference.

Now, I redrew and edited the Marnceit concept art and design in Adobe Photoshop using a colour scheme similar to pigs (pink and amaranth) and fertility like (grass green and wheat yellow) I chose pink because it was a colour that you rarely see with male protagonists (Steven Universe or Kirby) and wanted a unique display on him.

The next character is the recently turned corn husk doll herself; Surducti, currently this is a first draft; a attempt at a concept sketch so I was still practicing, but for Surducti, I wanted to implement a "wild" and "carefree" look on her while at the same time looking like someone who's ready to get to work.

I present to you Surducti's digital colour scheme and palette; I chose a harlequin/lime green to represent the even balance of her wild and carefree side but at the same time productive and dedicated attitude, but at the same time demonstrate a comic relief personality, which to compensate for is why I added a deep cerulean and navy blue colour. All of which edited and created on Adobe Photoshop.

From recent criticism and feedback from fellow colleagues and classmates, I decided to reevaluate and resketch Marnceit's concept art, improving on many things like his pose, description, colour scheme/palette, rotation sheet and the title. Looking more professional from before.

On Photopea and Adobe Photoshop, I used the softwares to edit and colour in concept sketch and profile of Marnceit, looking simple yet straightforward with everything you need to know about him.

The same applies to Surducti, where I used recet feedback to improve on her profile and character sketch as well the many things like her poses, colour palette and rotation sheet.

I used Adobe Photoshop to reedit and colour in Surducti's redesigned concept sketch turning it into a character profile with a well designed and innovative information sheet, character expressions and simplified colour palette.

Four Elements Assignment - Classical Championship

We were tasked on creating a game design concept based on the four elements; Fire, Water, Air and Earth like in Avatar The Last Airbender or World Of Warriors and here I created a idea along with sketches and digital artwork for a international athletic based championship like in Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games.

Below are the beginning concept sketches of the 4 characters that each represent one of the four natural elements and by the looks of their designs, they also have a season/solstice motif to them.

In addition to the Four Elements' theme, I created a fictional cartographical sketch of the map of where each of the characters live, the locations of each continent, what natural element do they respond to, each of the continent's etymology and the type of environmental landscape they all live in.

I now drew them digitally on Adobe Photoshop to better represent and portray each of the continents respective landscape and environment as well as the names of each elemental continent:

  • Fire Continent: Natsuhuo Suns.
  • Water Continent: Lago-Lamer Seas
  • Air Continent: Upepama Skies
  • Earth Continent: Humeves Trees.

Furthermore, there are many landscapes that easily distinguish each elemental continent from each other such the Water Continent being surrounded by snow and swamps and the Earth Continent being constantly surrounded in rich-green vegetation.

This is a concept art of the representative of the Fire continent with a list of personality traits, types of clothing and portrayals of superpower most predominantly who has many abilities associated with fire or the concept of heat, has a summer themed aesthetic as evidenced by the sunglasses and lightweight casual-wear furthermore, just like the element of fire, he has limited pyrokinesis.

You now see, a digitally coloured variant of the character in mostly the colours of red, orange and yellow; the colour palette of a passionate flame, in addition you see a rotation sheet as well.

For the Water representative, I portray a sketch of a young lad with a wintertime motif; supported by a ice-cube scarf, fur hat and apron that you wear to keep warm in winter time along with sketches of powers related to water such as bubbles, communication to marine life and hydrokinesis well as a list of personality traits found within the water elements such as purity, loyalty and moodswings.

Now, I drew a digital edition of the concept sketch for the Water Continent representative in Adobe Photoshop with a cerulean and sky blue background surrounded by water waves and bubbles. as well as the colours of various shades of blue to be prominent as well as the depictions of his powers.

Next for the Air Representative, this was difficult for me but I ultimately picked a aviator/pilot theme since they are best associated with the air, wind and skies which includes goggles, a biker jacket and fluffy-wavy long hair to represent freedom and spirit. For her personality, it would be immensely fitting to have a easygoing yet cheerful extroverted demeanour towards the element of air as well as air-based powers like tornadoes, jet propulsion and aerokinesis.

I went and chose yellow as the colour that represents air, when digitally drawing and adding colours to this because I'd like maintain the main four colours that you see in several artwork and colour palettes (red, blue, yellow and green) as well as the fact that yellow represents a carefree, positive and fun-loving nature behind it. For the backgrounds I chose natural phenomenon associated with wind such as tornadoes and whirlwinds because it felt felictious with the element of air itself.

To conclude the sketches and character concept art for my idea of the Four Elements, I made the most work when creating the Earth Representative by implanting the many things of the earth element; nature, rocks and flora. It's why I chose afro-puffs + dreadlocks, and a casual yet productive outfit like overalls to allude to the season of springtime and dedication. When it comes to personality, she's like the mountain: stubborn, reliable and dedicated which matches well with the power of geo-agrokinesis.

For the background, there's no fitting area than in a large thicket with many ridges surrounded by thick grass as green as any vegetation in chloroform. An ideal area for the Earth Continent Representative herself and her team.

Personal Development - Artwork.

For the Personal Development assignment, we were tasked on creating a short and basic game design idea, but this was on such short notice so I was limited on both time and making backgrounds. However I managed to make some concept art before I had to hand in.

Here is the concept art of the game's protagonist; Whomcast, a stick figure for a point and click adventure game similar to Johnny Rocketfingers and Henry Stickmin.

For the assignment, here I illustrated a piece of concept art for the backgrounds of my Concept Pitch assignment. It's meant to be a suburban sidewalk with many things that a metropolis has such as a basketball hoop, a bin, traffic lights and many more.

I created a map of what could the Concept Pitch have in terms of world

This is a sketch of the gameplay concept, where it has a point and click mechanic.

This is the digitalised variant done in Photopea.

Identity Assignment:

Below shows my drawn storyboard for an assignment based on the concept of identity for which I developed an animation further on in Adobe Animate CC.

Here is the final animation of that storyboard, made in Adobe Animate CC and published on Youtube on February 2024.

This is the colour palette for the main character of my Identity assignment Enessity, the reasons for the colour palette for each I is due to the fact I wanted a variety/abstract theme that showed a contrast towards the theme of different identity and honestly the colours fit each other very well.

Now I present to you the animation of Enessity in the Identity assignment. Created in Adobe Animate CC 2024.

Anatomy sketches (Both Digital and on Paper)

Game Development By AI - Claude.AI

During a mini-assignment, we were tasked on creating a game through a artificial intelligence based website called Claude.Ai and as you see below I drew and sketched up a concept of what the gameplay mechanics could be.

PERSONAL ARTWORK & FANART.

My best artwork that I would consider as top quality throughout my growth and improvement. I did everything, for every piece of artwork here in my portfolio, including the backgrounds, outlines, shading, lighting, fonts, text, blending, colours and more under the aliases of Craftive-Art/Some or SomeCraftive-Art.

Most of the artwork I've produced are all tributes and fanart celebrating a particular anniversary, observance or holiday, Many of which are copyrighted materials and others include my self insert.

The same applies to here as well; many anniversaries, birthdays and observances.

Smile Assignment:

Below, I present to you artwork of a character of a college assignment that I did have fun with; based on theme of smiles. Her name is Aurish and this are artwork, emotions and background imagery art of what I've created for the assignment.

CONCEPT ART AND SKETCHES - SMILE ASSIGNMENT

DIGITAL ARTWORK - SMILE ASSIGNMENT.

ANIMATIONS:

Here are many of the animations I've produced that I would consider to be top-quality and fairly happy with in terms of how it is, how it follows frame movement and much more.

Starting of which is the animation for my Identity Assignment, which I've made on Adobe Animate CC.

Next on the list is a tested animation for a mini-assignment which needs to follow the 12 Principles of Animation and that being Timing and Spacing. Which shows a red ball following a stitched line.

Next is a another mini-assignment that our class and teacher tasked us with; That being a animated head swing/rotation, though the caveat is that the sketches, line direction, rough-out and clean-up are all visible. Though this is a animation I'm actually quite happy with due to how it shows squash and stretch and a bounce effect with the hair brunches.

This time, we were given a task on making an animation that focused on transformation and I chose the most unlikely of objects; a doughnut turning into a paint roller in carmine paint. While it was short and did not receive well from viewers, I'm fully happy with the details I got to implement in the animation such as the colour transition and the paint drops falling.

This is a special animation that I did with my friends on my dead series called "Ever Great Step Up" for its 5th anniversary on November 16th 2024. This was a hassle to complete due to the set deadline and how I still haven't learned my lesson in setting deadlines for personal projects. This is a animation that I actually got my online friends to voice the characters with and the animation was made in iArtbook; A animation app.

These two animations are mini animations I've created when I had free time to balance with GCSEs and college assignments, called Dream Meme Supreme; starring the main character Numeri in various and nonsensical pursuits.
