What's On? Week 5 | Term 3 - 2025 | 18 August 2025 | Mullumbimby High School Newsletter

Message from our Principal

HSC Trials ended

Welcome to week 5 and the midpoint of our term. Our HSC teachers have been busily marking trial examinations and giving feedback to our students who now have the final 5 weeks of their secondary school ahead of them. Now is the time of year for our students to come together as a cohort and support each other to enact the rich feedback provided by their teachers and to complete as many past HSC papers as they can to make sure they have the best opportunity to succeed as a group going into the HSC exams.

Behaviour Code for Students

Did you know that the NSW Department of Education, Behaviour Code for students, explicitly states that “In NSW public schools, students are expected, to the best of their ability, to show respect to other students, their teachers and school staff and community members.”

Our first core value at Mullumbimby High School is RESPECT. It is always fantastic to be able to acknowledge our young people when they show respect to each other, their teachers or the environment. There has been a lot of attention in the media lately about young people showing a lack of respect to each other and their relationships and unfortunately we are not immune to this kind of behaviour here at MHS, despite the majority of our young people being very aware and connected citizens. It is so important that we all work together to have high expectations of behaviour that is respectful to each other.

Uniform reminder

Just one more reminder about uniform as we come into a week of rain. Our school is a uniform school. The P&C runs the uniform shop at close to cost price and any extra goes back into the school to support our student learning. Our uniform lets people know that we are proud of our excellent public high school. It creates a sense that we are one, no matter what our gender, race, religion or how much money our parents earn. Please encourage your young person to be a part of our school in this way. It does make all the difference in the community when we look great, as others who are not a part of our school can see that we are a part of something great.
