Chateau Bellevue is beautifully furnished and one of Texas’ most distinguished mansions with unique historic architectural features. With our in-house caterers, Limelight Catering, we are able to offer to provide a most unique and delicious dining experience!

The Chateau Bellevue’s mission is to preserve the historical and architectural heritage of the North-Evans Chateau. Built in 1874, Chateau Bellevue is romantic and elegant, with French Romanesque arches, beautiful courtyard grounds, a spacious ballroom, ornate hand-carved woodwork, and stunning stained-glass windows.
Join us and preserve an Austin treasure. Your tax deductible membership provides ongoing support for one of the few remaining historical buildings in the middle of downtown Austin as well as important community support including educational, civic, and social activities. Your support allows us to provide other non-profits with a meeting place for their monthly and annual meetings at no cost.

Meet Alathea, our Resident Chateau Ghost!
The North Family, the original builders of the Chateau, had several sons and one daughter. They moved to France because of the Civil War. There, Athalea, their daughter, studied piano. When the war was over the North family returned to Austin, but Athalea remained in France to continue her studies. While in France, she contracted consumption (tuberculosis), and her parents insisted she come home where the treatment for her illness would be better. Athalea did return to the United States, but she came in at Ellis Island which prohibited her from entering the USA with a communicable disease. Alas she died there, but it has been told that her spirit searched for her family and now resides in the Chateau! Over the years, many strange things have happened that have been blamed on the ghost of Athalea. Check out the video to get a glimpse of Athalea - be sure to watch to the end!
