Cultivating Franklin Franklin County Center

Extension Awards

Franklin County Extension Agents, Meg Wyatt, 4-H and Dominque Simon, FCS were awarded the Grange Team Award January 7th at the Extension State Conference in Greensboro. The team for the Northeast District used their exceptional qualities and outstanding experiences to build a partnership between Franklin County 4-H, Steps to Health, and the County Library System. Throughout this collaboration, the team worked closely together on the StoryWalkⓇ project, meeting, and exceeding expectations for an impactful project. As a result of this partnership, the team successfully created five StoryWalkⓇ installations, written and illustrated by 21 4-H members who wrote and illustrated five stories based on the topic of Pollinators. These StoryWalks are now installed at each of the four libraries in Franklin County, providing the community with an opportunity to be physically active while enjoying the creativity of the youth in their community.

Colonel Fairel visited the Franklin County 4-H County Council meeting this month. The youth were very intrigued and were very engaged in the conversation. Colonel Fairel shared his path to the military, shared all the careers that are within the military, and discussed citizenship with the youth. We appreciate his visit and time

EIA Vaccine Clinic

Franklin County has conducted an annual equine EIA/Coggins Clinic for over 30 years. On Saturday, February 15th, 11 horses were vaccinated during the annual event. Having the EIA and vaccine clinic in a central location provides opportunity for horse owners to save money on vaccination costs and Coggins tests.
