BROUGHAL MUSIC BLAST #34 2024-2025

Welcome to the the 2024-2025 Broughal Music Blast! Our Spring Concert was super fun! Thank you to everyone who attended and celebrated our students. We have a little bit more than 1 month before the end of the school year. But first, we have a few rehearsals before we attend our Spring Trip to Hershey! Check out the Blast for more details. PMEA Elementary Band & Orchestra Fest - Tuesday, 5/13

On Tuesday, 5/13, select 6th grade Band & Orchestra students will be participating in the PMEA Elementary Band & Orchestra Fest at Notre Dame High School. Students will be leaving Broughal by 10:30 AM and should bring a bagged lunch, their instrument, PMEA Music, and concert clothes. Snacks and dinner will be provided. The doors open at 6:30 PM, and the concert starts at 7:00 PM. Tickets cost $5 each. The concert will take place in the Alumni Center Auditorium at Notre Dame High School. Fountain Hill Spring Concert - Thursday, 5/15

On Thursday, 5/15, Fountain Hill alumni have been invited to perform with Fountain Hill's band and orchestra for their LAST Spring Concert at the old building. The concert starts at 2 PM and should end around 3:15 PM. Transportation will provided to and from the concert. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Stoltz.

Spring Trip (Hershey) - Friday, 5/16

The Spring Trip to Hershey is almost here! Please review the following information for some friendly reminders. For more specific details, please check out your trip packet. If you have any questions, please contact one of the directors.

SCHEDULE
  • 5:15 AM - Report to Broughal
  • 5:30 AM - Load bus
  • 6:00 AM - Bus leaves
  • 5:00 PM - Award Ceremony
  • 6:30 PM - Bus leaves for Broughal
  • 8:00 PM - Arrive @ Broughal; Unload Bus
WHAT TO WEAR
  • Trip T-Shirt (will receive the week of the trip)
  • Jeans/Shorts (no ragged, patchy shorts/jeans)
  • Socks
  • Sneakers
SPENDING MONEY

Please keep in mind that Hersheypark is now CASHLESS. Students can convert their cash into cards at select locations within the amusement park. If you have any questions, please contact one of the directors.

Donegan Spring Concert - Thursday, 5/22

On Thursday, 5/22, students in Orchestra and Jazz Band will be attending/performing at Donegan's Spring Concert. The following students should report to the Band Room by 8:05 AM so that we can leave by 8:30 AM. We will return by 11:15 AM so that students can report to Period 4. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Stoltz.

Trip Payments due Thursday, 4/3

All Spring Trip (Hershey) payments were due this Thursday, 4/3. The trip cost for students is $180 per person, while the trip cost for chaperones and tag-alongs is $170 per person. Please make payments via cash, check, or money order. Checks or money orders should be made payable to "BMPO." If you have any questions, please contact the directors as soon as possible.

Congratulations, All City Orchestra Students!

Congratulations to the select Broughal students for proudly representing Broughal Middle School in All City Orchestra this year! Students learned 13 pieces of music over 2 days of rehearsals and performed in an outstanding concert. Congratulations to ALL BASD middle school students!

Congratulations, PMEA Intermediate Band & Orchestra Students!

Congratulations Serenity, Caleb, Geremy, Cali, and Naomi for proudly representing Broughal Middle School and Bethlehem Area School District in the PMEA District 10 Intermediate Band & Orchestra Fest on Friday, 1/24. These 5 students rehearsed for an entire day with other 7th and 8th grade students from around the Lehigh Valley. At the end of the day they performed an outstanding concert at Zoellner Arts Center. Congratulations!

Handbook Forms Due - Tuesday, 10/1

Like past years, we will be using Google Forms to collect your responses for your Handbook Forms. CLICK HERE to access and complete your forms. If you need paper copies of the Handbook Forms, please contact one of the Directors. All electronic and paper Handbook Forms were due by Tuesday, 10/1. Don't forget to fill out the paper BASD Medical Form (English | Español) in addition to the electronic forms!

Volunteers Needed

One of the most helpful ways to assist Broughal Music is by volunteering! Depending on the event, you'll be assisting and supporting students and directors so that EVERYONE can have a successful, stress-free performance/event! If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Mr. Stoltz (astoltz@basdschools.org) as soon as possible and let him know which of the following events you would like to volunteer for:

  • Friday, 5/23 - Uniform Collection

Please note that adult volunteers must have active clearances on file with the Broughal Music Department BEFORE volunteering. Additionally, community service students are limited to students currently attending Liberty High School or Freedom High School. If you have any questions, please contact one of the Directors.

Gertrude Hawk Candy Fundraiser

NO MORE CANDY BOXES LEFT!

Our first fundraiser started on Thursday, 9/5, and we have NO MORE boxes left! Check out the following details for more information on our first and one of our most popular fundraisers:

  • There are 48 bars in each candy box. Each candy bar costs $2. Students should return $96 to the BMPO. All money and orders were due on Thursday, 9/26.
  • For each box sold, students earn $40 towards their Broughal Music account.

$50 Fair Share Due Thursday, 9/26

The $50 Fair Share was due on Thursday, 9/26. We use this money to purchase music, supplies, clothing, food, and beverages. We also use these funds to pay for transportation, field trips, and various items and events throughout the school year. If you have any questions, please contact the directors as soon as possible.

Student Account Information

Want to know how much money is in your child's account and how much money you owe for Fair Share, the Broadway Trip, and the Spring Trip? Check out the Broughal Music website or the following button/link. The document is organized by Student ID number, so make sure you have the ID number ready. If you cannot find your child's ID number, please contact Mr. Stoltz (astoltz@basdschools.org).

Do you know when your next lesson is? Have you been practicing your instrument? Check the Lesson Schedule regularly so that you are prepared for your next lesson. Remember, you need to attend 17 lessons per instrument in order to attend the Spring Trip!

Broughal Theatre Announcement!

Congratulations to the cast and crew of Mean Girls, Jr. on a phenomenal rehearsal and performance season! While we'll miss this year's theatre experiences, we also are excited to announce next year's production - Newsies, Jr.! We can't wait to "seize the day" with next year's cast and crew, and we hope you'll join us for one of our performances over the 2026 Presidents Day weekend.
