- TAMIU will host its Spring 2024 Graduate School Open House on Thursday, March 7 from 5 – 7 p.m. in the Senator Judith Zaffirini Student Success Center. Prospective graduate students will have a chance to meet with program advisors, faculty, and Graduate School representatives to learn more about the application process. Admission is free and open to the public. Open House attendees can also enter their names for a chance to win a $2,000 scholarship. More information is here.
- Select TAMIU students and full-time faculty and staff have received an email for participation in a Healthy Minds Study with the University of Michigan and the Jed Foundation (JED). Deadline to this Friday, March 8. Please share your important insight...you could also win some great prizes!
- In Rhizome news...are you a poet and you know it? Enter the Rhizome Poetry Contest. Prospective graduates are invited to attend our upcoming Commencement Kickoff event happening Thursday, March 7 from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. at the Senator Judith Zaffirini Student Success Center. You'll be able to check your graduation status, buy regalia, order your class ringt and get loan payment information.
Rhizome @ TAMIU
“Rhizome” is a multidisciplinary contemporary art project organized by Artist and Visiting Assistant Professor Crystal Wagner that will be created at TAMIU this Spring 2024. It involves the collaboration between faculty and students in the music, art, dance, theater, and humanities and the community at large.
Several opportunities will be offered for public participation, including Open Build Days.Starting March 2, Open Build Days will be held on Fridays and Saturdays, from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m., through March 23. Participants will meet at the TAMIU Center for the Fine and Performing Arts (CFPA) main lobby.
IBC Bank & Commerce Bank Keynote Speaker Series Postponed Until March 20
Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) and its intersection between technology and society will be discussed during the upcoming IBC Bank & Commerce Bank 2023-24 Keynote Speaker Series. Dr. Mona Sloane, assistant professor of Data Science and Media Studies at the University of Virginia, will present a lecture titled "The 'Social' in A.I." on Wednesday, March 20, at 6 p.m. The presentation will be delivered virtually via Microsoft Teams.
First Year Writing Program Showcase Scheduled for Friday, April 5
The TAMIU First Year Writing Program Showcase of Writing will exhibit the scholarly contributions of participating students through poster presentations. Participating students are eligible for scholarships and Dusty Dollars funded by the First Year Writing Program Presidential Innovation Grant. The First Year Writing Program Showcase of Writing celebrates writing by first-year students enrolled in ENGL 1301 and ENGL 1302.
Discover TAMIU Set for Saturday, April 6
Now in its 10th year, “Discover TAMIU,” a family-friendly event celebrating the excitement and discovery made possible at the University, is happening Saturday, April 6, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
