As she prepares in the FP to delve into the realm of knowledge at Maastricht University's Faculty of Science, Mariana shares her dreams, passions, and the exciting adventure of studying abroad.
A Journey into the World of Science
"I am preparing for the Science programme, however I am also very interested in the Circular Engineering programme and would consider working in making up credits for it as well. I decided to study science since I feel it gives me a lot of opportunities in the field I would like to work in, which would be leaning to environmental stuff. I have always loved nature and being around it makes me really happy, I know there’s millions of people who feel this way too and I want to make sure I do my part in giving the Earth and future populations a healthy world."
Choosing Maastricht: Where Dreams Take Flight
Choosing a university is a monumental decision. For Mariana, the allure of studying abroad was undeniable. "I decided I wanted to go to the Netherlands since I wanted to leave Texas but going out of state in the United States is very costly, so I looked into going abroad. My dad has friends who have and currently live in Maastricht and all of them have loved it so much! I ended up researching Maastricht University and really liked it and the way students are taught".
Anticipating New Beginnings
As Mariana prepares for her academic odyssey, she eagerly anticipates the connections she'll make. "I am looking forward to meeting all of my classmates and finding people who have similar goals as me, but also come from very different backgrounds."
Preparing for the Next Chapter
Currently, I am still navigating the challenges of finding housing online so mainly still messaging people etc. I am also packing up my room and things and sorting through what I need and want to take with me.
