The Pocket Press Term 1 | Week 8 | 2025

Inspiring - Inclusive - Empowered

We acknowledge the Minjungbal people, of the Bundjalung Nation, who are the original custodians of the land on which the school proudly stands. We raise our hands to the sky that covers the Aboriginal land. We touch the ground in the care of the Aboriginal land. We place our hands on our hearts in love of the Aboriginal land.

From the Principal:

Cyclone Alfred

Thank you for your understanding throughout Cyclone Alfred as the school became non operational. A huge shout out to Sigge and the Department of Education Assets team who removed branches, trimmed trees, pressure cleaned etc to ensure our kids had a safe school to re-enter.

NAPLAN

NAPLAN was postponed due to the school being nonoperational. We have been sitting NAPLAN this week with the final assessment, numeracy, being held tomorrow. We will run catch up sessions for those students were absent on Thursday and Friday.

John Imbrogno Sessions

Today John went class to class to hold space for our children around Cyclone Alfred and its effects. This is a timely reminder to check in on your children after this event in case it brings up any memories from the 2022 floods.

John will be running his parent session tonight regarding raising children. If you haven't RSVP'd, it's not too late to attend. The session starts at 6:00pm.

Parent Teacher Interviews

A reminder that Parent Teacher Interviews are now live in the School Bytes app. Jump on and book your time. Due to Lyndi Hauenstein being on leave during these times, Year 2 will hold their interviews in Week 2 next term. Bookings will become available later in the term.

Skye and Salma

A huge congratulations to Skye and Salma for making the North Coast Dance Ensemble! They had to record a solo piece and submit it earlier this term and wait for the outcome from the panel. We are super excited for them both!

P & C

A huge thank you to the outgoing P & C committee. Your dedication to raising funds to spend on our children is a testament to how you have supported our community. Over the past two years you have raised more then any other P & C at The Pocket Public School.

A shout out to Jade who has held the president role and the organising leader for our two festivals, The Winter Festival and Summer In The Pocket. Everyone knows the time and effort you put into both of these events to make them the huge success they are today. A huge thank you from us all.

We welcome the following members to this years P & C:

President - Jaye W

Vice President and Festival Organiser - Nathan K

Treasurer - Maryse M

Secretary - Adelle J

Uniforms - Lyndsey R

Canteen Coordinator - Unfilled.

Sport

We have lots of sport to come this term. We have the 5 a side soccer for those students who self nominated (check your School Bytes account to see if your child is in the team).

Cross Country is getting closer and closer. Sigge has started to prepare the track and the canteam are starting to get ready to welcome all the students and parents from the VoSS schools.

Best of luck to Mia and Skye who head off to Kempsey later this term to compete in the NC Swimming championships.

Staff Leave

Lyndi Hauenstein will be on leave from this Thursday to the start of Term 2. Kate Gallagher will lead Year 2 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday while Robyn Roland will be the teacher on Wednesdays.

Rhianon Glasson will be on leave from Thursday Week 10 through until the beginning of Term 2. Amy James and Peta Jones will back fill against this leave

Canteen

A reminder to order your child's canteen through the FlexiSchools app by Wednesday each week, otherwise you will miss the order deadline.
