Taft Boys' Lacrosse History

The boys’ varsity lacrosse team is steeped in tradition and seeks to develop young athletes into leaders on and off the field. Founded in 1962, the lacrosse program has always been highly regarded at Taft, and the legacy today is as strong as ever. Competing in the most competitive conferences in the nation, the Founders League and New England West - Division I, Taft has consistently fielded championship-level teams with tremendous success.

Most recently in 2025, Taft finished the season 10-8 with a nationally competitive schedule. The Rhinos traveled to the Mid-Atlantic to start their season with games against Georgetown Preparatory School (MD) and St. John’s College High School (DC). We then hosted Malvern Preparatory School (PA) in Watertown as our home opener. Ultimately, Taft finished 5-3 in the Founders League and lost in the Founders League Semifinal. In the last four years, over 50 players have matriculated to the next level and found homes in the ACC, Big 10, Ivy League, Patriot League, and NESCAC, among other conferences.

Program Philosophy

The success of Taft Lacrosse rests on the principles of hard work, accountability, and dedication to your teammates, your coaches, and the game. We focus intently on fundamentals, competitiveness, and respect, on and off the field, every day. By attracting the finest scholar-athletes, we continue to build upon our tradition of excellence and ensure the program’s future success.
