IHS DECA DISPLAYS BUSINESS ACUMEN deca sTATE cAREER dEVELOPMENT cONFERENCE

Thirty-nine Irondequoit High School students applied their business knowledge they learned in the business classroom in their respective DECA event at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center. The 65th Annual New York State DECA Career Conference (SCC) was held March 5-7, 2025, and over 3,000 high school business students from all over New York State came to compete in over 50 different competitive events.

DECA, an international student organization, enhances the preparation for college and careers by providing co-curricular programs that integrate into classroom instruction, applying learning in the context of business, connecting to business and the community and promoting competition. Its student members leverage their DECA experience to become academically prepared, community oriented, professionally responsible, experienced leaders. Students choose an area of business that is of interest to them at the start of the school year and prepare to compete in an event related to that area through business classes and other resources available through DECA. Business classes at Irondequoit High School that incorporate DECA into the curriculum include College Accounting, College Business Law, Virtual Business Management, Entertainment Businesses, Sports Marketing, Career & Financial Management and Entrepreneurship.

These six students will attend the DECA International Career Development Conference in Orlando, FL along with 16,000 other student competitors from all over the world April 26-30, 2025.
