Macmillan Coffee Morning
Senior U13 Girls Bring Home The Plate
The Senior 1st U13 Girls team travelled to Bede's for a tournament and were successful in bringing home the Plate. The girls didn't concede a goal in any of the matches mainly due to Lilly's excellent goal keeping. They went on to draw against Handcross Park, Bede's and St Christophers and then beat Claremont in the semi and St Christophers in the final. Congratulations to the girls on their first trophy of the season.

Stars of the Week
Autumn comes to Pre-Prep!
Monday morning was the perfect opportunity for an assembly on the Autumn Equinox. The children listened beautifully as we explored the meaning of the word and discussed how day and night are of equal length at this time of year.
A huge thank you to Chloe K’s father, who brought in an amazing variety of pumpkins for the children to learn about. They loved discovering the names of each one , such as the wonderfully bumpy Warty Goblin.
These lovely pumpkins are now proudly displayed in our beautiful Autumn display at the heart of Pre-Prep!
Year 1 Time Capsule
Year 1 were very excited to go and bury their time capsule in our beautiful grounds. We met with Keith who kindly dug a hole for us in the wood. We filled our time capsule with some 'All About Me' writing and also our height that we measured with string. We are very excited to dig up our time capsule at the end of Year 1!
Year 1 Forest School Adventures
Our Year 1's had a wonderful time at Forest School this week, exploring the signs of autumn and discovering more about hedgehogs. After transforming themselves into little hedgehogs, they played our “Guess Who's Hibernating?” game, before turning their creativity to clay and twigs. With lovely focus and care, they sculpted their very own prickly hedgehog friends and tucked them into cosy leaf nests ready for home.

Year 3 Victorian Morning: A Journey Through Time
The Year 3 Victorian morning was a fantastic blend of hands on learning and historical discovery. The children were immersed in a range of engaging activities, beginning with an exploration of uniforms worn by soldiers. They then stepped into the role of 19th-century medics, using a variety of bandages to treat injuries, a memorable and interactive experience.
The children enjoyed working with a giant timeline, where pupils sequenced important Victorian artefacts, including a camera, telephone, tinned food, and a steam engine. This visual activity helped bring the era to life.
Another favourite was learning how to send messages using morse code and a torch. A fun and fascinating introduction to early communication.
The children thoroughly enjoyed the session, gaining not only historical knowledge but also an appreciation for how much everyday life has changed since the Victorian era.
Year 4 Hands of History Workshop
The Year 4 children had a wonderful afternoon learning about all things Roman. They dressed Mrs McEwan in full military kit and Mr Robson had his leg amputated which was healed with bees wax! They thoroughly enjoyed the mock invasion which included swords, shields and balls! What a way to spend an afternoon.
Year 7 Latin and Art Visit to Richborough Roman Fort
Our Year 7 pupils had a brilliant trip to Richborough Roman fort. The pupils received positive comments about their conduct, and we are very proud of them. Despite the inclement weather, they had a smile on their faces as they explored the beautifully preserved site.
Sing at Eastbourne College
The Year 6 Sing Day at Eastbourne College was a real success. We started the day with an energetic warm up, consisting of vocal skills and movement. This then led to the learning of 5 new songs from scratch, complete with harmony and a live band accompaniment. All the children did incredibly well and should feel proud of what they achieved in such a short space of time. Caspar K and Elizabeth B also wowed the other schools with piano performances on the college’s Steinway Grand Piano. Well done to all involved.

APEX HALF-TERM HOCKEY CAMP
The Apex Hockey Camp that will be running for two-days at MHV during the October half term, on Monday 20th and Tuesday 21st October, from 8.30am to 4.30pm each day. The camp will feature a fantastic coaching line-up. Leading the programme is the current Men’s and Ladies’ 1st XI coach at Maidstone Hockey Club, and former Director of Hockey at South Saxons. He will be supported by a team of experienced coaches, including national schools competition winners and current England Hockey Talent Academy players from East Grinstead and Sevenoaks.
This is a great opportunity for MHV players to sharpen their skills mid-season, and for those yet to begin their hockey programme, a valuable pre-season preparation. The camp will focus on high-quality technical coaching, game awareness, and player development to help participants take their hockey to the next level.
