ENDURE a special lesson for the start of the 2024-205 school yeat at Our Savior

Hebrew 12:1-3

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.3 Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.

Run the race of Faith and Endure, because Christ Endured the Cross for you.

Try This:

Can you jog in place for one minute?

Can you do 100 arm circles?

Can you do 50 jumping jacks?

Could you do any of these activities longer? How's your endurance?

ENDURE: To keep going even when it's hard

Derek Redmond was competing in the Olympics when he was injured midrace. His dad helped him across the finish line. How does this video show endurance? How does it connect to our Bible verse today?

Jesus endured the pain of the cross for us. In the race of life, he goes with us. He knows our pains, holds us up, and helps us to Endure. We also have a place in the community of faith, the great cloud of witnesses. We are never Alone.

Have you ever won a medal, trophy, or prize? What was it like?

We have victory because of Jesus. Heaven is our prize. We keep our eyes on Jesus. One day, there will be no more sin, fear, or sadness--only Joy!

Activities

Create a flag to celebrate that you're on the winning team: Team Jesus!

Write a note to cheer on someone going through a hard time. Remind them they can endure because of Jesus.

Pray:

Dear Jesus, sometimes things get hard. Help us to keep our eyes on You and to run the race that is before us. We can endure, because You endured the cross and claimed victory over death. In Your name we pray, amen.
