Year 11 and Upper Sixth Leaving Celebrations

Today we say goodbye and good luck to our Year 11 and Upper Sixth students, leaving to begin their study leave next week.

Upper Sixth

The Upper Sixth, dressed as construction workers, had an emotional leavers' assembly with dancing, speeches, awards and words of wisdom and advice. They then had an evening drinks reception on the terrace in the sunshine with parents, before their leavers' dinner in the Organ Room. We wish them all the very best of luck with their exams and future plans, and are very proud of the young people they have all become.

Year 11

Year 11 also dressed up, as characters with the same initial as their first name! They took part in a quiz, watched video highlights of their time at KC in their leavers' assembly, before enjoying a BBQ style lunch on the lawn. We also wish them the very best of luck with their GCSEs. For those leaving us, good luck in your next adventures and for those staying to the Sixth Form, see you back here in September!

Some of our staff members even dressed up! Here are the "Pastoral Pirates!"

Space!

On Thursday, we were treated to two musical performances of Space, this year's whole school musical production. The afternoon performance featured the Prep School pupils with Senior School musicians and the second evening show featured Senior School students and professional musicians. Both productions consisted of classical music performances, choral pieces, poetry and Dance all performed by our amazing Kent College students, along with props created by our Art and Textiles students. We are very proud of you all!

Boarding Fun

Over the weekend, our boarders have been spending all their time outside in the sunshine. They have been relaxing, studying and playing out in the beautiful boarding house garden, as well as walking in the woodlands, visiting the bluebells, and sitting around the campfire in the forest.

Lower Sixth Team Building

On Wednesday afternoon, the new School Officer team went to the Escape Rooms in Tunbridge Wells. The team was divided into three groups representing the different areas the officers oversee: academic, wellbeing and charity. The afternoon was great fun and the girls really worked well in these different groups together. Hopefully, this will make them much stronger units over the coming year. The winning team, with an impressive time of just over 45 minutes was the academic team who did Temple Quest.

International Agent Familiarisation Trip

We welcomed international agents from countries including China, Hong Kong, Turkey, Ukraine, Nigeria and Saudi Arabia to Kent College earlier this week. Not only were they able to see the school in the glorious sunshine, they met our boarders and day students who were fantastic and shared their experiences of life here.

HALO Lecture

Mr Mossman kicked off the summer term with a HALO lecture entitled "The Mystery of the Sea Peoples", in which he outlined the mysterious collapse of various near Eastern civilisations (e.g. Troy and Mycenae) during the late 12th century BCE. It was a very thought-provoking talk; Mr Mossman certainly captured the attention of the attendees with the different layers of the mystery and his enthusiasm for the subject. Scholars and Exhibition pupils were left pondering the excellent question posed by one of our Year 6 AIM pupils - where would we be now if those civilisations hadn't been destroyed?

"It was very interesting and we loved learning how civilisation collapsed." Josie, Ella and Jessica, Year 7
"I really enjoyed it. It really fascinates me and makes me think how much we should appreciate what we have whilst it lasts." Hattie, Year 7
"It was absolutely fascinating and really made us think about where we could be." Juliet and Imi, Year 7
"It was interesting and thought-provoking, covering topics I wouldn't otherwise have known about." Molly, Year 9
"It would be massively interesting to find the answer to the unanswered mystery. We loved this and want to find out more about it. We loved the plot twists of all the civilisations collapsing." Isabella, Marcella, Isla, Eva and Lyra, Year 6
"Very interesting talk - loved finding out about what could have happened so many years ago. Also the discovery of links to the Sea People (and the Welsh!!)" Amy, Lower Sixth

Chapel Service

This week the Upper Sixth and Year 11 students had their last Chapel Service with Chaplain Katie. While she held it together in the end, Chaplain Katie was extremely emotional, as she sent them off with a blessing for their future. We said extra prayers for exams, world peace, and compassion.
