Cylchlythyr Ysgol Saltney Ferry "Cydweithio, gallwn gyd llwyddo."

Welcome everyone to this weeks newsletter.

Your little ones smiles in school, passion for their learning and wanting to try new experiences are the reason we do our job. It is great to hear the children's laughter and engagement in their learning as we walk through school and outside.

It is great to see so much learning and experiences captured in our newsletter. Please do take a look at our instagram page and share the great experiences with your family and friends.

A big thank you to everyone that brought in any donation for the harvest. We can still receive items on Monday also.

Having spoken to a few parents this week, a few points were shared on what you want a bit of help with. If you would like ideas or support with learning reading, writing or number at home please do speak to your child's class teacher in the first instance. We ran maths workshops last year that were a great opportunity to find out how we teach maths.

Staff have shared a few ideas on running something similar this year with language and maths this year. We will keep you posted. Next half term you will have the opportunity to meet with the class teacher and have a look around your child's class.

We are always here to listen, offer support or may know where we can contact another service. Please do come and speak to us if you've any questions.

As always, thank you for your support!

Have a great weekend!

Mr Martin

In Dosbarth Alwen this week, we have been reading the book "farmer duck" by Martin Waddell. The children have LOVED this story and it has linked conversations to our harvest week about what farmers do, why we should be thankful and the impact our farm has on the school.

Following on from our story, in Language we have been sequencing the story using story cards, in Udeskole we went on a hunt to find the characters from the story that were hidden in the forest. Next week, we will be retelling the story using puppets and our voices🤩

This week in Dosbarth Tegid we have been busy learning all about harvest time! We had a lovely discussion about the fruit and vegetables that grow this time of year and how the leaves on trees change. We have also been busy drawing pictures of our houses noticing how they are all different. For outdoor learning we made people out of leaves and we really enjoyed this activity! We also wrote about a beautiful autumn day using adjectives and drawing a lovely picture! Da iawn!

In Dosbarth Brenig we have continued our work researching to develop our bird fact file. We went a step further to create our own bird websites! Once finalised we'll be hosting them through our school website.

Next week we'll be looking at data for a specific, local bird and what we can do to help.

Our friends have enjoyed developing their fitness skills through running, climbing and ball skills.

Dosbarth Gwynant have had a great week of hard work again! We have finished our persuasive speeches and they are fantastic. We voice recorded the final products and will be sharing some during our assembly on the 23rd! We have enjoyed finishing our harvest artwork and practising our song!

Friday was our treat day for reaching 1000 dojos. We enjoyed a movie, decorated cupcakes, and built a big class den. What a good week!

"First School Farm in North Wales" to all our new parents, do come and speak to us about the farm or chat with our families.

Following our meeting with the Wrexham University research team a few conversations were had at how we could capture the impact of our school farm and demonstrate its true educational value. Our older pupils continue to shine in their role as mentors to younger peers and taking on the responsibility of running their school farm through the week. The journey we have been on since last autumn proves it works and fantastic to hear from other schools who are thinking of doing something similar.

We're planning to add 'blog' type posts to our school website that will further demonstrate this and look forward to the 'bloggers' in Brenig and Gwynant developing their literary skills.
