Season for Success

May isn't just for grads–we're celebrating four Javelinas chasing their dreams–and winning along the way.

Dakota Roy ’25 walked the commencement stage this month after completing a Master of Science degree in Biology. He credits the mentorship of Dr. Laughlin with preparing him to confidently make decisions about his next steps. He is thrilled to be working full-time at Brock Veterinary Clinic in Lamesa, Texas — gaining experience in their equine hospital — with his sights set on vet school next year.

Shelby Umphres ’16, ’19 was the recipient of the Mansoor and Rehana Khan Graduate Student Excellence Award for her research contributions to Texas A&M's Irma Lerma Rangel College of Pharmacy. She is pursuing a doctorate in pharmaceutical sciences.

Emeri Drewry '23 earned a graduate degree from Baylor University. "I’ve successfully defended my master’s thesis titled Undergraduate and Graduate Students’ Attitudes Toward A Career in Public Relations. It’s rewarding to know that my research will contribute to a more inclusive and diverse industry and classroom, paving the way for positive change and cultural awareness initiatives."

T-Flo Visuals recently filmed an interview with actor and film producer Tom Cruise for School of Hard Knocks

Tyler Flores ’17 is an architectural engineering major turned entrepreneur. After earning his degree from A&M-Kingsville, he started work as an engineer in Austin. Then, revisiting a passion uncovered during a videography class at Goliad High School, he invested in a professional camera and established T-Flo Visuals.
