the flock in formation Newsletter - Spring 2025

Coaches Corner

March Madness is here! I hope all are enjoying the games and fun that comes with this time of year. On a WAC MBB note; Coach Chris King is currently in Indianapolis, supporting his brother who is on staff at Trinity (CT). Trinity plays in the D3 final tomorrow. As always, Flock basketball is about family.

The season came to a close last month and the program took steps forward. We doubled last year's win total and passed our league win total in far less games. Although we all wanted more and felt we could have had more wins, we are building, improving, and believing. Thank you to all who followed the guys and supported us from near and far!

I also want to say thank you to our senior class: Ethan Schwantes and Precieux Tshibangu. Both had strong seasons and handled themselves with class and excellence on a daily basis. We are proud of PT and Ethan and can't wait to see what the future holds.

Back to the family theme... it is an exciting time as my wife Meghan and I are expecting our first child in May! I grew up in a college gym, running around as my dad's team practiced, and it's special for things to come full circle.

Onward,

Coach Begly

Shore strong

Next week, we will begin our SHORE STRONG push. From 9:00 AM on Wednesday, March 26, through 9:00 PM on Thursday, March 27, help us compete for training trip dollars! Every dollar donated supports our student athletes’ experience, from travel to gear. Thank you to our special alumni and friends.

Alumni day

On April 26th, at 1 PM, we will be holding our yearly alumni game. It's a fun time to get together and play...with an Elam Ending of course! Please let me know if you will be in town for War on the Shore.

On a bigger note, SAVE the date: November 8-9, 2025. We're bringing back a WAC MBB classic: an opening tournament to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the 1989-1990 class. All alumni are invited next year as we host a tip off tournament for the first time in many years. Stay tuned for a title for the event...it may be connected to Shore Strong.

Alumni Assists

We took a moment post-season to connect with our alumni to be, Precieux Tshibangu. PT provided highlights from his WAC experience and continues to assist in our recruiting efforts.

What did you take from your Washington College experience?

  1. Unique learning experiences; from studying abroad in Spain to going on business visits in New York and NCAA conferences in Indiana.
  2. Life long friends (Basketball, BSU).
  3. Professional connections and development (career center and advisors).

Spring migration

This spring, the guys are working and reflecting on how to improve. Each individual, including coaches, dove in to James Clear's best seller Atomic Habits.

Take a look at your own habit scorecard...as a team we are working to add 2-3 positive habits. Change comes from within, with others to support, encourage, and challenge.

We want to hear from YOU

Alumni and friends, please feel free to reach out at any time.
