Cylchlythyr Ysgol Saltney Ferry "Cydweithio, gallwn gyd llwyddo."

Another fabulous week of learning and experiences, take a look at what's being going on at Saltney Ferry... Plenty of exciting learning ahead from our amazing staff. Can we please ask that you ensure your little one has the correct clothing for their Udeskole days where they learn outdoors and PE. Staff will post on dojo class to let you know when. Could we please ask that pupils come to school in their uniform on those days, bringing their outdoor and PE clothes in a bag. In our celebration assembly it was fantastic to hear how many achievements go on in class and outside. We've even heard rumours of adults setting challenges for themselves in the summer, more to follow on that! Any certificates or medals for achievements do send your child in with it for a Friday and we aim to fill our celebration wall. We thank you for your continued support and kindness. We're always here for our community too. Have a great weekend!

Da iawn chdi! Super effort earning a medal and trophy!!

A very busy & creative week for Dosbarth Alwen. In the provision areas we have been creating snowflakes using corks, paint and glitter. Made marks using coloured, frozen ice blocks and made snowmen in the playdough area. We also made our own igloos for the penguins and polar bears using tin foiled wrapped blocks and marshmallows. The children were introduced to our Welsh artist "Gwen John" - who we now know was famous for her paintings of cats. The children created some fantastic pieces inspired by Gwen using water colours and oil paint. In maths, we've been recapping our knowledge on 2D shapes and began exploring 3D shapes with a shape hunt outside🤩

In Padarn this week we have been looking at doubling numbers. We have been listening to a song to help us and have really enjoyed singing it. In our outdoor area we used blocks to build towers and double them. We have worked together to created a class story map of ‘Peace at Last’.  We have also looked at our artist for this term who is ‘Rhys Padarn Jones’. We have identified what we liked about his bubble writing artwork which we will be having a go at ourselves.  The children have enjoyed being back in Udeskole. We have been identifying evergreen and deciduous trees and also made our own paper.  This children are doing really well with taking ownership on completing their weekly missions too. Da iawn pawb!

Dosbarth Brenig have continued their research into Celtic life, then considered how the day of a villager would have gone. Super language used in our diaries. In maths skills we have learnt about symmetry, regular and irregular shapes then consolidated our learning. Looking forward to transferring our skills in Udeskole. In our big question we explored what Celtic music may have sounded like using our rhythm, beat and listening to our fellow tribes people in Brenig. We built a bodhran drum and created our own folk dance!

Spot o dawnsio gwerin! Gwych!!

In Dosbarth Gwynant we have continued our work on the Welsh migration to Patagonia. The children have been great at creating questions, researching, and thinking critically about the reasons why the Welsh decided to migrate. Our class have blown us away by taking on the role of different people who were on board the Mimosa and have started to use this to plan diary entries. Later in the week we have been using our area and perimeter skills to design a settlement like Y Wladfa!

We also loved taking these skills outside to measure the farm... and even some sheep!  What a fabulous week!⭐️

Fferm Y Ferry

"First School Farm in North Wales" and "First to house livestock on-site!" Proud of our Ferry Farmers taking on more responsibility to care for their farm animals this week, maintaining the garden and enjoying being outdoors. Great to see our friends transferring skills in their Udeskole days. We're looking forward to developing working partnerships with a few local schools and helping their pupils with our Ferry Farmers as mentors.

No yolk...the girls cracked on with their jobs at the farm, taking initiative and problem solving without flapping or spitting feathers! Da iawn!

Business networking at Agri-cation, Wrexham

One of our staff visited the one and only farmer Cheryl and her team this week as part of a business networking event. Great to see her organisation growing and contributing to so many young people in our area. Cheryl has been instrumental to developing our school farm from the start, supporting staff and our pupils in the process. Diolch o galon.
