Farmers Markets In Minnesota
I lived in Florida for a couple years when I was a kid, which has a strong Farmers Market community, and it was always a highlight for me growing up. This is why I’ve spent the last couple of weeks Researching local Farmers markets in the Twin Cities, and I definitely have some favorites! Because farmers market season is just beginning to start, a lot of the stalls now are selling goods like rhubarb and artisan goods like bread. This will change as the season goes on, so if you are looking for fruit or more summer foods, I’d suggest waiting a couple more weeks before checking these markets out! Shoreview Shoreview’s farmers market, located in the shoreview community center's parking lot, is hosted every Tuesday from 3-7! This is one of my favorite farmers markets, it’s decently sized for a local market, and it has a variety of different fruits, vegetables, and animal products. It opens this week, so if you have the opportunity to go, I’d highly recommend it! Last time I went there I got some very delicious tomatoes and bread. They also have an indoor farmers market hosted in winter. Mill City Located in Minneapolis, right next to the Guthrie theater, this is a super cool Market to check out! If you aren’t aware, this farmers market is hosted by the Mill City Museum, which was once a very big flour mill, and a very important part of Minneapolis history. It opened back in 2006, and it's been flourishing ever since! They have markets every Saturday from 8 AM-1 PM, they also offer an indoor market every first and third Saturday’s of the month in the winter time! Roseville While it may be small, I’d recommend checking out the Roseville Farmers market sometime this summer! I may be biased because Roseville is my town, I do think this farmers market holds a lot of potential! It's hosted at the Corpus Christi Catholic Church right off Fairview, Every Tuesday from 8 am-12 PM. Everyone I talked to there was super nice, and we got some good quality rhubarb and beansprouts there. Saint Paul The downtown Saint Paul’s Farmers Market definitely takes the cake in my book! Hosted every Saturday from 7 AM-1 PM, and Sundays from 8 AM-1 pm, It’s a beautiful place to walk around and check out all the different vendors. I got a lot of stuff there including creamed cinnamon honey, sourdough, and the best everything bagel I’ve ever had! I’m excited to see more fruits and vegetables when the summer rolls around. I was expecting parking to be a nightmare, but the venue offers free parking super close to the market, and even on a beautiful Saturday morning it wasn’t too full! If you have the opportunity to go to a local farmers market this summer, do it! It helps support the local economy and small businesses that make their livelihoods possible! This is just the surface of all the farmers markets in Minnesota, I’d suggest going onto either stpaulfarmersmarket.com, farmersmarketsofmpls.org, or Minnesota Grown to find a farmers market near you!
