Cylchlythyr Ysgol Saltney Ferry "Cydweithio, gallwn gyd llwyddo."

Another busy week of antics and activities, with our little friends immersing themselves in learning. Great to see learning across the school encouraging and supporting pupils to be independent learners, particularly with great examples of our pupils supporting each other. Our classes have enjoyed Udeskole days, noticing the season, tending to the garden, developing team work skills through imaginative play in the forest. Of course, also talking to the goats!

We've plenty of exciting plans ahead for learning in school and always look forward to giving you a snapshot into what we've been up to each week. Mwynhau'r penwythnos! Diolch.

A very busy week in Dosbarth Alwen, we have finished of our learning of shapes with shape patterns in a range of areas using different concrete apparatuses and sorting shapes from the environment into the correct categories. So impressed with their knowledge on 2D & 3D shapes🤩 Over the next couple of weeks we'll continue to read "Lost and Found" by Oliver Jeffers which ties in nicely with winter. We have introduced reception children to colourful semantics to help with their independent writing skills and the impact of this has been wonderful to see💜 using full stops, capital letters and finger spaces - WOW!  I've really noticed the progression in children this week with their writing, play skills and independence! Bendigedig pawb.

Padarn have been busy creating, writing and sharing our ideas. We have used Welsh songs through our week and enjoyed experimenting with movement in our PE activity. Our friends have shown great ideas as we've explored interesting pieces of music. In our writing this week it has been a pleasure to watch our class use language and skills from other aspects of our week. Da iawn!

What a fantastic week in Dosbarth Tegid!  Super busy in literacy creating brilliant kenning poems, using imaginative language to describe the celts in clever and unusual ways. We’ve been building our confidence with telling the time in maths through hands-on activities that kept those brains ticking. In expressive arts, we explored the beautiful Celtic-inspired artwork of Jen Delyth, spotting intricate patterns and creating designs of our own. And we got our feet moving with some lively Welsh folk dancing — a wonderful way to celebrate Welsh culture while developing coordination and teamwork. So many ways we’ve been learning, creating and moving together. Da iawn, Tegid!

Brenig have refined their diaries on the legend Beli Mawr including power words, considered the envrionment for that season and what he might have been thinking. We're developing our understanding of fractions further through equivalent fractions! We sectioned food into various fractions and found out how many segments were in an orange, then recorded our findings as a fraction. Super effort from our friends in class and how supportive they are of classmates.

One little friend has been working on a project at home. Da iawn chi!

Dosbarth Gwynant had a fantastic week refining their writing skills and developing their peer assessment strategies. The knowledge our class have developed about the history of Patagonia has been a proud moment for us all to observe. Da iawn chi!

Plenty of eggs for sale - do call in and pick up a box. All monies go back into our farm. As the weather improves and day light hours increase we will hope to have better egg production!

Our furry friends have gone on holiday for a short spell - don't worry Dennis and Denise will be back in a few months and possibly a little fatter! We're hoping to have news very soon of our project with Wrexham University researching the impact on well-being and learning from our school farm. We may be asking for your help to contribute to the research and data that the University can gather.
