Head's Welcome
Dear Families, I hope you’ve all had a wonderful week. This week, our main focus has been on internal assessments and public exams. We know that exam season can bring a unique set of challenges, big emotions, and extra fatigue for our young people (and, let's be honest, for you at home, too!). We are incredibly proud of how thoughtfully and resiliently our students have navigated this week. They have shown immense maturity, and they deserve a huge pat on the back. The assessment journey continues next week as our Year 10 students begin their summer assessments, which will run across the next two weeks. We will be keeping the school environment as calm, predictable, and supportive as possible for them. A huge thank you to everyone who took the time to complete our recent homework survey. Miss Buchanan is currently pulling together all your feedback and preparing the information to share with you all. This data will directly inform our homework strategies for the next academic year. Alongside this, we are looking at whole-school approaches to further support our students with revision techniques and executive functioning skills (like organization, time management, and task initiation). This ties perfectly into your survey feedback and will help give our students the practical tools they need to feel confident and independent. We have an incredibly busy few weeks lined up with end-of-term events, transitions, and activities. To ensure you don't miss a single update or reminder, please do join the school's WhatsApp group if you haven't already. It is the quickest way to stay right in the loop. I hope you all have a relaxing, peaceful weekend. All the best Mrs Rich - Head

What we've been up to
Y9 visit the Houses of Parliament
Last week, our Year 9 students enjoyed a fantastic trip to the Houses of Parliament. After successfully navigating buses, trains, tubes and lunch in the park, the group arrived for an immersive educational session. The Parliament Education Centre truly brought history to life. Students explored democracy, voting, and UK political history across five themed spaces, utilising 360-degree video projection room, tablet technology, and interactive voting pods. They then enjoyed a guided tour through the Houses of Parliament, giving them the incredible opportunity to see the famous chambers in person. They even witnessed a debate on the impact of AI on society! Everyone came back full of excitement about their day, with lots of stories of everything they had learnt. Well done to you all for also showing our Canbury values throughout the day.
World Cup Fever
Following on from Mr Barnes' assembly, World Cup Fever has definitely gripped the school! Each year has picked eight teams with raffle tickets on offer if their team tops a group (as we can only go up to the group stages due to the end of term!) There will also be raffle tickets for team with the BIGGEST goal difference (could be positive or negative!) Thank you to Reenie for her help. Staff also have a sweepstake with a prize at the end, with the top five teams picked by: Argentina - Mr Bourgi Spain - Mrs Porter France - Miss Boyle England - Mr Rush Portugal - Mr Hussain
Year 10 Artists Shine in Mock Exams
Our Year 10 GCSE Art students have reached a major milestone this week by completing their practical mock exams. The art studio was a hub of intense focus and creativity as students brought their final project ideas to life. The Challenge Students were tasked with: Curating their own unique still-life compositions using selected objects. Mastering tonal contrast, light, and shadow. Executing a large-scale final study using charcoal. Outstanding Results The dedication in the room was palpable. Working with charcoal requires immense control, and the students successfully captured intricate textures and dramatic lighting. The resulting collection of artwork showcases incredible technical skill, depth, and individual personality.Congratulations to Year 10 for their exceptional focus and hard work throughout this intensive week!
