Jordyn is an elite point guard for North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University women's basketball team. She averages 15.7 pts per game, 4.8 rebounds, 3.4 assists, her FG percentage averages at 37, and she's reached an astonishing 1000 career pts.
As a Junior she was the first ever in program history to make the First Team All-CAA and has started every game last season and has started every game so far this season. Dorsey has been named 2025 HBCU National Player of the Week and she is second in the CAA in scoring for the Aggies who were picked to win the CAA and are undefeated in conference play.
"On the court, I want to finish my collegiate career with a CAA Championship. Hopefully I’ll get an opportunity to play professionally as well."
Dorsey has already earned her bachelors with a magna cum laude with a bachelors in science (biology pre-med) in three years and she's currently pursing her masters. Dorsey was able to secure an internship at Augusta University back in 2023 called the SEEP program. AU is known for being an very competitive medical school.
"I want to go to dental school when I finish playing basketball. That has always been a career goal of mine."
Dorsey has always been passionate about community service, her favorite project being one that honors her late grandmother who passed in 2012 from breast cancer. Each year she and her family try to continue her legacy by giving away holiday meals throughout the year to help raise awareness for breast cancer.
Dorsey aims for success not only on the court but off as well, earning her bachelors degree in only three years with magna cum laude. With the motivation and encouragement of her mother, as well as summer courses her early graduation was solidified. Dorsey is currently in the works of pursuing her masters.
"I owe my motivation to my mom. She encouraged me to take college courses in high school which ultimately propelled me to be Valedictorian of class of 2021 and enter college as a second semester freshman."
Basketball isn't the only thing that takes up her time. Dorsey is an representative for the Student Athlete Advocacy Committee. She also is a part of the community service committee, who've just did a senior fitness workout.
"It is a great opportunity to connect with other athletes at the university."
Jordyn Dorsey graduated from Cross Creek High school as valedictorian in Augusta, GA. She was recruited by North Carolina A&T during covid. She was unable to physically visit the campus but virtual visits allowed her to sense that A&T felt like home.
"I was being recruited by North Carolina A&T during Covid... I was able to do virtual visits and the fact that it felt like home, even though I never saw the campus with my own eyes, I knew this was the place for me."
Dorsey has played both soccer and softball but ultimately fell in love with basketball.
"I just fell in love with the process. I just always enjoy getting better and improving on things that I once couldn't do. The love I have for the game is indescribable and it is one of God’s greatest gifts to me."
