“An amazing voice and clearly a very talented songwriter”- The House of Coxhead, Glastonbury Festival Emerging Talent Competition

ABOUT RÓISE

Róise is a Belfast born, Manchester based artist. She writes intimate, brutally honest, indie pop. Largely inspired by Lizzy McAlpine, Leith Ross and Holly Humberstone, her music floats between playful pop tunes and wistful ballads. She writes almost entirely from her own experience, about everyday experiences. Despite her age, Róise writes with a maturity that people from all ages can connect with.

Róise has been writing and performing since her early teens and has been developing and perfecting her project both on stage and in the studio. She performs live in Belfast and Manchester regularly and recently supported artist SÍOMHA on her Ireland tour. Her writing has also gained her recognition from the Glastonbury Emerging Talent competition in 2019 and more recently was awarded the Drake Yolanda Award 2023, which will go towards funding her upcoming debut EP “Television”. You can listen to the early production stages of this EP below.

“Songwriting quickly became my biggest passion and greatest comfort, as I find I can express things about myself through song far easier than in conversation. I don’t water down those feelings within my lyrics, my music is brutally honest, and deeply personal. It can be terrifying to play something so personal to a room full of people, but also extremely cathartic.” - Róise

Throughout her career so far, Róise has received support and recognition for her talent both at home in Belfast, and UK wide. At just 17, Róise was selected to perform and record her song "Someone You Don't Need" with the Ulster Orchestra, which you can watch below.

In addition to this, in 2021, her local arts centre The Duncairn supported her in creating a 45min documentary piece on her career and works so far.

After spending the past year performing her proudest works across some of the UK and Irelands top venues, Róise is now itching to share these songs with her growing fanbase. In her debut EP, Róise showcases her raw, intimate vocals over a sonic bed of acoustic instruments and synth worlds that perfectly accompany her strong lyrical themes of self awareness, relationships and vulnerability.
