Welcome Back
It has been wonderful to see everyone back this week, eager and ready to learn. It has also been lovely to see all of our new children and families who have joined us. We are looking forward to an exciting year at Parkside and as always are here to support you and your children. If you have any questions or concerns, please do get in touch via the school office.
School Meals & ParentPay
Just a reminder that school meals should be paid for in advance on ParentPay. Thank you for your patience this week as we resolved issues linking ParentPay to our new Arbor system (see separate section below). Balances should be showing accurately early next week. Please get in touch if you have any queries.

School Games Gold
We are delighted to let you know that we have once again been awarded the Gold School Games Mark.
The School Games Mark is a government-led award scheme. It celebrates schools' commitment to developing competitive sport within their school and community. A big thank you to our PE lead in school, Miss Oldridge, for driving this forward.
Ofsted Report
You should all have had the communication on Tuesday about our Ofsted report, which showed that we retained our GOOD in all areas. Please see the link below for a reminder.
We are incredibly proud of everyone in our Parkside community for their hard work and dedication which is reflected in our report. We would like to thank everyone involved . The report reflects our ongoing commitment to providing an inclusive education for all. We remain firmly committed to continuous improvement and will use the feedback from the report to build on our strengths further and strive for greater outcomes for all.
New school communications - Arbor
We have recently moved our school information system to Arbor, which is enabling us to streamline a number of functions and work more efficiently. This means some changes for parents and carers. Moving forward, we will no longer be sending out information via text message. This will be a huge saving to the school budget. (During the transition period you may still receive some texts while we use up our existing text bundle. Please do not reply to SMS messages sent via Arbor as they will not be seen.) Please bear with us while we adapt to this new system.
We will shortly be sending out information about the Arbor parent portal (web based) and parent app (for smartphones). This will enable you to login and view school information and receive messages. The in-app messages will be the best way for you to keep up to date, so please download the app when we send out login details. Updates will also be sent via email. The parent portal/app will also be the method to inform us of any changes to your contact information. You will also be able to book parents evening appointments.
In the future you will be able to make payments and book clubs through the Arbor app, but we will still be using ParentPay for the time being until our contract with them ends next July.
Can you help?
We would love to have more parent volunteers helping out in school - you can really make a difference! You could help out by supporting in class, inspiring pupils for future jobs by attending an assembly or speaking at careers day, or maybe in some other way we haven't thought of! Please get in touch by calling the office or emailing parkside.primary@eastriding.gov.uk

Spotlight on Attendance 🔦
As we start the new school year, we would like to remind you of the importance of good attendance. Please see below for ways to support your child:
- Do not take holidays in term time (see here for Penalty Notice information)
- Make appointments outside of school hours
- Use the "When is to ill to ill" guidance when considering keeping your child off school (click here to view)
- Arrive on time each day. School gates open at 8.40 with registers closing at 8.55am
- Reach out to school Via Mrs Daine or Mrs Greenley for support around school attendance including Emotional Based School Avoidance
Absence from school not only equates to lost learning but also missing out on other benefits to a child's wellbeing and wider development.
Safeguarding and Wellbeing support
- East Riding - Support and protection for children
- NSPCC - Support & advice for parents
- Family Information Service - What can FISH do for you?
